How do these fighters fare against Joe Louis’s opposition while he was champion! (All in there primes from start to finish no ageing something Joe didn’t have the privilege of but this is my thread so shush) Earnie Shavers Jerry Quarry Ron Lyle Gerry C00ney Oscar “Ringo” Tim Witherspoon Buster Douglas Carl Williams Ken Norton Cleveland Williams Who dethrones them and how? Who retires undisputed?
If you had to decide on one to repeat Joes feat with the fantasy conditions in place who would you pick if you had a gun placed to your cranium?
Ken norton would do very welll against guys like charles, schmeling, carnera, but not against baer ,marciano and maybe walcott
A big boned man that Ken Norton he would do well against them all especially the small framed Rocky the bones give and never take.
All would do very well, with the exceptions of Charles, Walcott, and Marciano.(Those 3 may go undefeated against the fighters listed.) If those 3 were not in the equation, they would do exceptionally well .
Douglas and Witherspoon (if in top form each time out, like the OP says) go undefeated. Lyle and Quarry probably do as well up untill Charles. Walcott would lose to Lyle but beat Quarry imo. Both could drop to Conn/Schmeling/Baer too. I'd favour Lyle against Baer and Schmeling and Quarry vs none. Shavers/Norton/Cooney end up polaxed at some point. Carl and Cleveland as well. Ringo is very good, but he isn't good enough to beat Walcott or Charles. Nor Schmeling, Baer or Conn ect.
I can’t either. Many of them lacked the focus needed to have a reign that long. And in some cases weaknesses for certain styles.
