lol the funniest thing is the revisionism around here trying to make him out to be some ATG, even though his woeful lack of skill is apparent on film, and he has probably the most non-existent defense I've ever seen from someone at the contender level.

The amount of milage Galento got from that "win" is absurd.
"One of the most disgraceful fights staged since the days of the barroom brawls. Referee George Blake . . . would have retained his reputation as a great referee had he disqualified Galento."

"Tony used everything but a blunt instrument on his dazed and bloody opponent. He heeled, thumbed, elbowed and back-handed the bewildered Nova as he lumbered to victory." -The Washington Evening Star

"I always thought Blake was a good referee until Friday night. He permitted Galento to use back alley stuff. Nova wasn't cut by any blows. His gashes came from butts from Galento's head. The doctors who took 5 stitches above Lou's right eye and 5 below it said no gloved fist could have caused such damage. We'd like to fight Galento again - in NY state, where you have to fight clean." -Ray Carlen, Nova's manager

in fact, I don't think Galento would last one round against Ngannou. Sentiments obscure common sense. Galento was a bar fighter, quite massive for those times, and he knew how to use it. it doesn't matter with someone like Ngannou - much taller, much better trained, much longer range, better motor skills, everything. That would be a total mismatch. Anyone who thinks differently lives in a different reality.

AKA 99% of this forum. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

“But but but Ngannou has only had two fights which were losses”

In his one fight with Fury he showed far more skill than Galento ever did in his career. Obviously it should be taken with a grain of salt if it was against a nobody, but it was against one of the two heavyweight champions of the world (who admittedly didn’t train very hard).

Galento wouldn’t have done nearly as well against Fury or even Joshua.

Yes because the 5'9" slow chubby bar room brawler is a carbon copy of the 6'6" 250 pound skilled boxer-puncher in Joshua.

I shake my head in disbelief at your hatred of Galento.
