Mate there are 1000's...every level of fighter has their place in the fabric that makes up boxing. Every level promoter or manager has theirs aswell. For every win on the padded records of the prospects floating around there is a loss on some other blokes..those people are holding up boxing aswell. When the current superstars fade out...there will be others that follow.
oscar de la hoya.....he has his mark on the sport for 15+ years as mainstream appeal......now he will probably leave his mark on the promotional side of things till he is an old man.......oscar de la hoya has carried boxing for a good long while now.....
Boxing just isn't what it use to be. The belts and the 5 champs per weight is what's killing it. Without a champ people can identify with the sponsors won't line up to endorse fights and boxer. Which would help bring the cost of a fight down and make it free and mainstream again. Instead with have these crazzy PPV where you shell out $55 bucks. Very few people I know will spend that dough on boxing. SO it makes it hard for younger generation to grow up and become a fan. Only way I became one was because my dad liked boxing.
