There has never been a better time for Parker to upset Wilder

The gameplan was to take Joyce out early, I guess. But 255 lbs Parker couldn't put a dent in him and failed to keep pace with Joyce after the first 4 rounds. I think Joyce would have got to him at any weight though because a much lighter Parker went 50-50 on the backfoot against short plodder Ruiz, got another A-side decision against Chisora and failed against Whyte.

I agree it’s debatable but just from what Ortiz showed against similar guys (notably Cojanu who Parker went 12 with and Jennings who he impressively stopped), I think he’s a more powerful and aggressive heavyweight. Parker is more durable and I rate his overall physicality higher, but I think Ortiz was just more dangerous.

Wilder is untested but for me based on what he showed in the third Fury fight and the two Ortiz fights, I think he’ll have more than enough to beat Parker. I’m excited to see it and I still think Parker is a tough fight.

I agree with the sentiment that it's probably the best time for Parker - to date - to fight Wilder (based more on Wilder's inactivity and advancing age rather than any huge improvement from Parker). But I just can't back him. You need to go through the fire to beat Wilder. I think he's too cautious.

Why would you say that? Who the hell has Ortiz beat?

Ortiz was heavily avoided, Parker was not.

Parker and Ortiz have a somewhat prominent mutual opponent: Parker world title challenger Cojanu.

Parker won a 9-3 decision against Cojanu in New Zealand, whereas post-Wilder 1 Ortiz one-punched Cojanu in 2 rounds.

Ortiz looked far better against Jennings (who far outperformed Parker against Joyce) than Parker has against any comparable opponent.

You mean the same Ortiz who ducked a career high payday and title shot offer from AJ?

Ortiz signed with Matchroom in 2016. Why didn't he get the chance in 2016/2017, rather than on a few weeks notice late sub 15 months post Wilder 1? Because in Hearn's words, 2016/2017 Ortiz was "very dangerous" and the Joshua fight didn't pass "risk-reward" for Matchroom.

Maybe you're right though and Parker will prove he's better by outperforming Ortiz against their soon to be mutual opponent Wilder.

Who has Parker defeated? The Ruiz fight was close a d the home town boy won. No one outside of the UK cares about Derek Chisora. Hughie Fury (lol). Lost to AJ, Whyte, Joyce. Ok he did beat Brian Minto.
And he's about to get Bolivianized by Wilder.

Scott beat a younger, fresher TT so I'd have him in Ortiz's top 4 beaten.

Charles Martin? The ghost of the version AJ sparked that dropped Ortiz with a jab? Ok.

Funny you mention Ruiz, because Parker didn't get dropped 3 times by him and lose unlike Ortiz did.

He had all the time in this world to become a champ, Parker did, Ortiz didnt. I will give Parker more credit. Also look Parker opponents, look Ortiz opponents, that is all there is to it.

Why wasnt he champ then? I mean Parker was a champ, there is all there is to it. You wont give him credit for that, I will. Btw I am no parker shill, I hate duckers, and Parker is a ducker, just like Ortiz and Ruiz and especially Wilder.

I agree Parker’s resume is not fantastic but the only notable win for Ortiz there is Jennings.

Hammer is a journeyman, Thompson was so past it, and Martin may be the worst world champion in heavyweight history, he’s absolutely terrible.
