His Aura and Ego got completely diminished by Barrera imo.

He didn't actually look bad against Calvo at all, he dominated a very tough man who would never get stopped throughout his career, the football fan crowd bood the place down expecting a KO though.

His head weren't in it, the only thing that could of motivated a come back would've been a big domestic rival, never happened though, and then the reckless, near fatal car accident in 04 derailed any chance of a comeback.

There's also Kha... Ah never mind...

In all seriousness, even before opening this thread the first people I thought of were Lennox Lewis and Hatton. I'd say they were more popular the hype job Hamed.

Manny Steward went on record and stated that Juan Manuel Marquez was one fighter Naseem Hamed went out of his way to avoid getting in the ring with.

Hatton phenotype & demeanor was 100% British, in between fights he looked like the composite of the Englishmen in the pub :think

They were not has hype on this side as they were in England. Hamed was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and all that. That's were he got the question to fight Mayweather and ducked out.
    here is the link: https://youtu.be/9qHyOtLwuts

Ricky Hatton was never on any shows and neither was Lennox.

Yea, Hamed would never fight Mayweather. Floyd is just too big and it wouldn't have been a fair fight because of size.

Hamed was 5'3" and he was never going north of 126.

froch had a similar following in the midlands, but it failed to extend to the south, especially after he beat up loudmouth cohcney boy twice in a row, Londoners got hurt their egos seeing reality show them they are inferior for sure.
