There has never been a Euro fighter as BIG as Prince Naseem Hamed

during the months preceding the augie sanchez and vuyani bungu fights, the hamed camps approached both morales and mayweather, as manny steward was concerned that naz was getting bored in between camps and also during them with not enough intensity as no big names were willing to face him. at the time morales, mayweather and even barrera were offered career high paydays to face him. We may sit here and disagree on how good haned was, some argue in peak condition and motivated he would have beaten barrera and anyone else at featherweight, others argue that he was overrated. But one thing we should all agree on, is that he was the first Box Office star from the UK, and one guy who whether they liked him or hated him, got the USA extremely interested. During MANY of his championship fights pundits referenced him as the biggest personality and exciting figure since Ali. This is factual.

That is what the **** I'm talking about. Naz was a ****ing mega star here before his feet touched the soil. Madison Square Garden, Joe Louis Arena, selling out stadiums, autograph signings and everything.

The hype was real and he put on a great show, that is what people like. Boxing is show business and people tend to forget that.

Mayweather was offered a "career high payday" by Hamed to fight him? Really? What weight, 126, because Mayweather never fought there as a pro. 130? Source? Newspaper? Website?

Naz vs Mayweather is completely unfair fight. Mayweather is just too big for Naz.

I completely agree:good. Plus he's obviously much better. However I was just responding to the poster that wrote that Mayweather is a Hamed wannabe.

Naz was probably the most naturally talented fighter from the UK ever.

Hardest punching feather of all time maybe?

Simply didn't train for the Barrera fight , had to lose a ton of weight 24 hours before weigh in .

Also this myth that he was completely dominated wasn't and isn't true. 116 - 112 Barrera.

MAB made Hamed look very amateurish by just utilizing basic, intelligent boxing skills. If you want to deny that, please feel free.

Difference is MAB dominated the rounds he won and Hamed squeaked out the rounds he won.

Problem with Hamed is he was in the most stacked divison in boxing by far. When he got humiliated by MAB nobody gave him a chance against Marquez, Morales or Pacquiao.

Most naturally talented fighter from the uk ever? How? There have been so many better fighters from the uk. Watson, eubank, benn, Lewis, hatton, all far better than hamed. Roberto Duran and pacquiao both hit harder than him as feathers also. Probably arguello and Kevin Kelley as well

He got completely outclassed buy mab. Rewatch the fight hamed has a few moments but mab is never hurt and controlled the action throughout the fight

If you scroll back you will note that it I am replying to a post that raised calzaghe. I never raised his name except in reply to someone else raising it.

NOW since you've just replied to me about calzaghe (and I did exactly what you did) you are only claiming that YOU have a calzaghe fetish (using your logic).

I said naturally talented, all of those mentioned were probably more disciplined but talent no way.

Also Duran and Manny hit harder at Feather?? Please neither were punchers at that weight.

Duran was a teenager still developing and I think Manny only had two or three fights there.

How are you discerning natural talent? And if you really think hamed hit harder than Duran at any weight you are insane. mab clearly hit harder hamed did. Duran had 15 ko in 17 fights at flyweight or lighter and then immediately went on to score knockouts in higher weight classes. Duran went on as an old man to fight Iran Barkley who was really a natural light heavy and beat his face in. Do you think there is any universe where hameds punches have any effect on guys like hagler and Barkley?
