I like the Naz comparison (though I'm not in a hurry to equate the respective talents of Tank, a fighter I've warmed to grudgingly, and one of my all-time favourite fighters in the Prince). But whereas I think Naz's downfall was inevitable because of the combination of his arrogance, apathy and unconventional (and very hittable) style, I feel like Tank has the fundamentals better covered, a more level head and a more responsible fighting style, and I struggle to see him having a night against anyone like Naz did against Barrera. I think he's definitely beatable - he's good, but take away his power and he's not that good - but it'll take someone at least as good to beat him, and they have to either have Golovkin's chin or superb, 12-round defense. As basically everyone has said on this forum in the last two days, Stevenson can definitely do it, Haney and Loma maybe.
García all be it green & wet behind the ears with his breath smelling like similac , was a real risk. (Biggest risk for Tank thus far) tank just beat him with the better skills. As he is the more complete & seasoned fighter.
It’s funny because while Tank was probably a little overrated before, Tank’s skills are now becoming underrated by hardcore boxing fans. Probably Shakur outpoints him but that’s it. Apart from Shakur, Tank beats anyone at 135 and below. There’s quite a few guys I would pick Tank to beat at 140 too.
Let's be totally honest , if Garcia was more experienced and actually stuck to a gameplan he could of coasted to a UD even now .. Garcia has some great attributes but doesn't know how to use them in the best way .. shame really.. Yes I agree a skilled bigger fighter than Tank can outbox him and stay out of trouble .. but Tank would always have that punchers chance ..
I think Stevenson schools Tank pretty easily. Haney also has a reasonable chance if he doesn’t get knocked out. Loma too.
Ryan is only seen as his biggest risk because Ryan is overhyped too. In reality he's no bigger of a risk than Pedraza was. I would say even less so since Tank was much less experienced when he fought Pedraza.
I think sometimes you,ve to just give the boy his credit. Garcia was meant to be his big test. Like all the tests hes had put before him so far hes came through with the goods. Its not like hes been fighting absolute mugs. I think tanks progression has been pretty good so far if a bit slow. Hes 28 now and on the verge of having career defining fights. All depends what he does now but 28/29 isnt really a bad age to start having your career defining fights. Or is it going to be a continual case of everyone he beats wasnt any good after the fact until he loses. He deserves his props for the weekend. Very good fighter. Very good boxing iq...to go with his power. His height and life outside the ring might unravel him at some point....but the truth is regardless of if someone does beat him hes pretty much as talented as they,ve been telling us from years back. You dont make garcia a kid that won 15 american amatuer championships etc look a bit clueless if your not.
Idk dude Luke Campbell gave Linares & Loma hell. gave Ryan hell too… till Ryan handled it like a G. That let me know Ryan was a threat. If Tank claims undisputed vs Loma vs Haney winner - he can not be denied. but we will likely get Vs Pitbull Cruz 2. The Money Team got da green print.
I disagree I think he is elite. It would be interesting to see him fight master boxers like shakur and haney but its important to remember he has a massive punching power advantage over them and would most likely walk through their slapping punches. I guarantee you neither of them have ever been hit as hard as tank does in fight gloves, I could see haney getting brutally K.O'd
