P4P doesn't really mean that when it comes to serious, historical lists. It's about comparative excellence based on resume. That's why the likes of Langford and Greb still rate so high. No fight footage of Greb but the stats shout that he was a bad man.

Why does Aaron Pryor rate so high then if its all about resume.

    This.

And, dare I say it, if Crawford wasn't American there wouldn't be too much debate on here about this.

Crawford's achieved plenty, no question, but in terms of P4P, being the much smaller man and always on the road is a bigger achievement than being usually the bigger and being the home fighter.

It's not even as if Crawford is prime and Usyk isn't either - they're both realistically past their best at this point.

Fighting a guy who outweighed you has NEVER been a factor or criteria of greatness.

    Only in boxing.

Also, for a man supposed that strong, he still spent about 5 minutes lying on the ground... never seen a champion doing that while defending his title...

Could you imagine Canelo lying 5 minutes on the ground for a so-called low blow ?

Unless you're talking about pound for pound...

It's not just about who's the most accomplished across the divisions - it's about who's the best fighter, when considering relative weights... Weight divisions, for obvious reasons, exist because additional weight is often an advantage (all else being equal, or equal-ish).

It naturally follows that fighters who are routinely outweighed on fightnight are greater in a P4P sense than weight bullies who are the best cutter in the division, for example (and heck, the fact that dangerously cutting is even a thing is further proof that being outweighed is a big disadvantage).

Terence Crawford is the number 1 pound for pound it's not even close

The fact that there are people that still say it's Usyk after Terence Crawford beats CANELO ALVAREZ for the UNDISPUTED SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD shows how insane this forum is

With that said Usyk is the real champion in the sense that he's the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world which really triumphs all because weight classes are just a way of making smaller people feel important

Haha you guys always move the goal posts it's hilarious

If he beats Bivol he'll need to beat Benavidez then beat Opetia etc etc

Bud already is the greatest pound for pound boxer of all time

Beating Bivol would just add to it

    Fury isn't close to Canelo

Fury struggled with Otto Wallin and an MMA fighter

Canelo got 120-108'd by Floyd, got 120-108'd by Bivol, got beat twice by Triple G but had the judges in his back pocket, arguably lost to Lara, struggled with Trout, struggled with Jacobs, struggled with Plant, and most recently struggled to do anything with William freaking Scull.

Stop trying to act like Canelo is some P4P ATG. He's the Taylor Swift of boxing. A marketable, mass appeal fighter who has had every fight carefully chosen for him so he can bring in the money. Literally every time this dude steps in the ring with any competent boxer not well past their prime or fighting well out of their weight class he has a hard time. If they're an elite fighter he gets schooled and can't do a thing with them. He was never elite when he was in his prime and he certainly ain't now that he's ancient in boxing years.

Bud saw that Turki was handing out gobs of money like it was burning a hole in his pocket, saw that Canelo was about 10 steps past his best, and decided he'd go grab himself an easy payday while adding to his accolades. He wasn't troubled whatsoever by Canelo. Was bigger than him in the ring and basically just cakewalked to the win. I guarantee you though that you will never see Bud in the ring versus Benevidez or Bivol or any other legitimate, in their prime fighter around 168. Spent his career weight bullying the lower divisions and took this one opportunity to come up and get paid against a slow, one dimensional fighter.

Ayyy, cabron! Why ze wildly telegraphed left hook to ze body no work, man? Yab? What's a yab? Viva la Me-hi-co!
