There is almost ALWAYS a winner and loser in a round

I agree 100% I believe a lot of people judged the Cotto vs Mosley fight that way. People saw that Mosley had more in his tank at the end and was attempting to walk Cotto down. But the truth is that Cotto clearly won more rounds (8-4 for me)

 

How would this work??? Would you still use a 10 point must system, or rate it so and so's rd, or another scoring method...7 judges might aleviate some of these issues or even compound them and make them worse.

 

hmm says... good rant. you bring up some good points in which a lot of people are susceptible to when scoring and they don't even realize it. Good responses as well.

 

The 10 point system could remain.
7 judges bring a better perspective than 3.
With the highest and lowest cards being discarded it narrows the margin for error/corruption. I can't see how issues could be compounded/worsened with more people having input into a fight, maybe you could give me an example?

Right now you can have 1 judge score it close for X another close for Y then from nowhere someone scores it by 9 rounds for X and we're all scratching our heads, Eugine Williams for example, her cards would have been binned straight off.

As I said all it gives is a little better perspective and a little less contraversy.

Not ideal but better than what we have.

P.s I'm not a big ice skating fan but the miss's was the junior pairs UK champ 4 years running and still coaches part time. She knows the system inside and out and says it works better than what they used to have, (5/7 judges all cards counting).

I will have to disagree. The majority of fights should end in draws. Most rounds are not one sided. BUT since boxing is about money and those in power want the easy marketing route you have todays boxing.
