There is no explanation for this statistic other than Bowe had a bad chin and Futch knew it

He fought Holyfield three times and only got floored once. Holyfield was a great fighter in his prime. Bowe had durability.

    Yes.

Dislipline at the table was his biggest obstacle.

    Yes

But in fairness, outside of Lewis...there was never a good time for some of those matches to be made. Plus some of them ducked Bowe.

Yeah i could see Foreman being a real featherfisted fighter today. He'd operate on about a 30% ko rate.

Hi Pat. As ever you make good points. You're right about Seldon and Hide being good punchers as well as athletes and I agree that Cooper was always dangerous.

But I can't agree with your comparison of Bowe being knocked down by Evander with Holyfield's decking of Mercer. That one, the Mercer KD, came in a very competitive fight, in which Holyfield looked good, was part of a combination and Ray took a knee. Bowe on the other hand was controlling the fight against a very out of sorts Holyfield, got hit with one punch and was flattened. He showed great heart getting up as he was gone. But, given that that was the only time Evander seemed to show top notch one punch pop as a heavy (the Douglas debacle aside), it has to ask a serious question about Bowe's chin.

to that list as well. Take Bert Cooper out and you have a combined 1 loss between the 5 fighters mentioned when Bowe met them.

I wouldn't even be sure about that. All the Bowe hPe comes from the Holyfield Fight and if holyfield tried to push back, exchange with and KO foreman like he did Bowe, foreman would have beaten him as well. Probably by stoppage

My point exactly. Holyfield dropped Mercer and hurt Tyson with well timed shots in a fight he was controlling and landing lots of other hard punches in.
Both guys took alot of punishment.

Bowe was hurt and wobbled by guys who were not among the top tier of Punchers without taking a beating and having been worn down over several rounds.

He definitely didn't have as good of a chin as Holyfield and Tyson did even though he was much bigger.

Shavers would probably fight at cruiserweight anyway he would realize the heavies were way too big.

It's irrelevant. I'm talking power relative to their era.
Foreman Lyle and shavers were the big Punchers of their era you can count Frazier too.

Morrison Tyson Ruddock Lewis foreman Mercer Bruno Smith Moorer Bowe are the Punchers of their era.

Bowe is the only big name HW who didn't fight any of the prolific Punchers of his era!

Name any top tier HW from the 70s-90s
Who didn't face a dangerous puncher(by that I mean someone who was seen as a threat to KO him)

It's too much evidence to ignore, even if some of its circumstantial. There is just too many "unfortunate coincidences"
