There is no point discussing Calzaghe, the fight with Hopkins or his future opponent

Sometimes it is so ridiculous the posts that come out here. Calzaghe is a great boxer and from some, he does and will never get credit.

Fight against Hopkins was very competitive but Calzaghe was clearly better. People say Hokins should have won because he landed harder shots, maybe true but Calzaghe landed enough to secure a points decision-fact. Even if a harder blow counts double that of a soft landing punch on the scorecards, Calzaghe still wins.

Plus how can someone say his win doesn't mean much because Hokins is over 40. Maybe Hokins is an old man but fact- he would beat most of the current crop of boxers and his style is made for NOBODY! Calzaghe did well to grind the win after being kncked on his jacksy (clearly a flask kd btw, he was not seriously hurt).

But anyways this is my main point, either Calzaghe is rated by a fan or not. Few things would ever change some people's minds on him because there will always be arguments about his puching technique, sloppy defense and resume. He could win against a Jones Jr and still not get props because Jr is passed it. True but is Calzaghe a spring chicken?

When people argue his resume is ****- people casually leave the fact out that he did try and get some big fights but they werent made-Hopkins, Jnr and Taylor...all declined. Not saying they were scared but fact- they chose not to fight Calzaghe, not the other way around. You won't even get them denying a fight could have been made awhile ago.

Bottom line- if you can't accept Calzaghe for being a great fighter, then fair enough, thats your opinion. Problem is, facts disagree with this notion. He will go down in history as a great, like it or not.
