    He said arguably.

Most of us believe ray robinson is the best ever, and until fighters start taking 7-10 fights a year, that guy is going to be impossible to topple.

    FAIL X2

that's not my opinion. it's a fictional monologue of future floyd apologists.

  3. No disrespect intended to the fighters of yesteryear, but why are they placed upon such an unreachable pedestal? It's ridiculously unlikely that fighters from Sugar Ray Robinson's era would have been able to compete with today's athletes.

Look at track and field: records are broken literally every year. Almost every one of them. What's the oldest and longest standing track and field record?

Look at swimming: same thing. These sports allow us to legitimately compare modern athletes against the older ones due to the way they are "scored" so to speak.

These days, due to advancements in training and science, athletes are jumping higher, running faster, throwing harder, lifting more, etc. Do you really think, honestly, that boxers aren't advancing at the same rate as athletes in all the other sports that can be accurately measured against previous competitors?

    It's all about relativity.
Following a blue print and advancing it like no one else has done.

Ray Robinson took boxing into the sweet science.

Have you ever seen the movie citizen kane? Advancements of that magnitude happen once in a lifetime.

As long as he keeps his "0" defeat that is the only thing that counts.

  7. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Ray Robinson and don't question for a moment his dominance of his era. But I think it's silly when people dismiss the notion that a current fighter just might be on that level, when in fact they are probably far better - but the competition is also, so they can't dominate in the same fashion.

Well, people weigh things like losses and rematches.
Today's landscape doesn't provide the opportunity to test boxers on that level.

Ray Robinson had to fight 4-5 times to make what boxers make in 1 fight now. So they don't need to sacrifice themselves on that level anymore. Most boxing experts say robinson was the most perfected fighter ever. There is an excellent video on youtube... ray robinson p4p profile... or something like that, where they all explain the attributes.

If guys like Ali and Leonard say he is the greatest ever, it's hard for me to take their combined boxing knowledge and go "sorry guys, no."

Naa, Matt the Hat is far too dangerous for someone like lil' F. He should take on a challenge like someone who finished 9th in a reality show. But not boxing, more like "dancing with a cabdriver", or something like that.
