There is no such thing as a 'glass jaw' or a 'weak chin'

there's alot of factor that will make you have a strong or weak chin. I honestly think U dont know what the **** your taking about. Cause some fighters in some fights have been hit everywhere and still stood up

 

exactly. Some fighters can take punch after punch. The majority of fighters are well conditioned and come into the ring in top physical shape. Just some fighters have something in them where they can resist more than others.

 

hahaha bull watch the hatton vs magee fights and the hatton vs thaxton, and you will find its all about heart and strength the grit and determination that keep those fighters fighting, how hatton kept fighting with his eye in such a state and all the pain of the punchs landing and how magee was still standing after all those body punchs was unreal,

its about mental strength and toughness to continue

But somebody like Khan who gets shook quite often gets hit in the 'right place' ?

 

Genetics definitely play a part, and there most definitely are people with naturally poor punch resistance, and others with the opposite, but you are right in bringing up many of the other factors that generally get ignored or overlooked.

There are plenty of fighters that might be found to have "glass jaws" if they weren't so defensively sound, or fought in a more risky fashion. But it is alway going to be difficult to breakdown how much each factor contributes to a fighters ability to survive in the ring, as a result people lump it all into the stupid category of glass jaws. It is however wrong to disregard genetics in anyway, as they clearly have a significant place, just like defensive ability etc.

But i think what you are really trying to say is Rico Spadafora should be executed, and i support that train of thought.

 

There is definately such a thing as a weak chin and a granite chin. Calling every boxer who goes down from a punch a glass jawed fighter is just stupidity but there is a big difference in someone like Amir Khan - I'm using Khan as an example cos I just can't think of another example rght now - who has been dropped in the amateurs, dropped by naturally smaller men with not much power and rocked by a stiff jab, and say someone like Wayne McCullough who was in with monster punchers like Eric Morales, took huge amounts of punishment without going down even once.

 

You're thinking about fighting through the barrier here, in a long fight where you're taking a lot of punishment.


What about when a guy gets clocked on the temple, and his eyes roll back in his head and he falls over unconscious? I don't think in that situation he gets KO'd because he's not mentally tough enough.

 

You sound like somebody who's never been punched.

You don't get hit and think 'I had a bad upbringing, I'm going to stay up'

If you get hit, you lose your senses. Some people just have a stronger resistance to this than others.

 

I'm really not buying this. Getting KO'd is involuntary; it's obviously to do with your bone structure, the sensitivity of your nerves, your neck strength etc.
