Nothing against pacquiao but I'm sorry.... prior to fighting pacquiao this ****ing guy was on boxign scene every week calling out zab judah, paul williams, carlos quintana, miguel cotto, antonio margarito, etc etc how the **** did he LITERALLY just disapear FROM THE SPORT ALL TOGETHER!!!!! Lets be serious here... edit: again THIS IS NOTHING against pacquiao.... He performed his ass off in that fight but I just have a problem with the fact that he just COMPLETELY disappeared from the sport.... it doesn't make sense
Don't know what the **** happened to Clottey. He was damn good though when he actually let his fists fly.
I honestly think that clottey probably gets .5% of every pacquiao fight... theres no way that he jsut is "inactive" how the **** did my man just vanish from the sport? doesn't make any sense what so ever
Ya like Pacquiao would need a fix to beat CLottey. atsch Clottey fought not too long ago bro. He won by KO, look it up.
Clottey was a GREAT fighter. there is no damn reason he shouldnt have let his hands go in what couldve been the biggest fight of his life. the fix was definately in. lets face it, dude was from Ghana and had no fanbase, Arum knew this and cashed him out and sent him back to Ghana. as u can see he hasnt been heard of since then. :verysad
Maybe he made too much money or lost his focus? That has happened hundreds of times in the sport. Why would it have to be a fix?
So Pac beat a great fighter in your mind. Great, now start giving him proper credit for the win instead of discrediting Pac.
There's no real reason to believe the fight was fixed. He pulled the same **** against Cotto late in the fight. Had he let his hands go in the final 3-4 rounds, he could've pulled away and really put the hurt on a badly cut and retreating Miguel. Clottey's always had problems with his workrate. Even against journeymen level fighters.
There would be no reason to fix the fight. Since Clottey was with Top Rank, having him be somewhat competitive against Pacquiao would mean that Arum could keep putting him on fight cards like any regular old fighter. The way Clottey performed, the public was outraged with him, and his marketability was ruined. Since he disappeared, only a few have really wondered. In fact, even those making threads about his disappearances (like this one) forget that he recently fought in Texas some 6 months ago.
Clottey sitting in Ghana on a pile of money lol I found it weird that Clottey did not throw alot against Pac. Watching the fight again Clottey had some openings but just didnt take them. Just makes me wonder.
To refresh your memory... http://digitaljournal.com/article/289398 HBO dropped him after that bad performance. And the cool 2 million he earned was enough to retire comfortably in his home country of Ghana. He's also 36 years old.
When an opponent is throwing 200 powershots a round instead of a pitty-patter soft, one punch every 20 seconds like tweetybird queerweather, do you really have a choice?
