I tried a couple of famous names and a few Canadian Olypians. Well, Lennox Lewis showed up (1-1), so did Andrew Kooner (a non medal winner - they had a 3-0 result from a North American tournament, but not his Olympic results). A number didn't, including past medal winners (Willie Dewitt and Shawn O'Sullivan) and those famous names (Tommy Hearns, Jirov).

It's a start - hopefully they can get some support from Boxrec, who do a very good job (and have a much better search engine, though it's still not the best itself).

Still, LONG overdue. All power to them if it can work out in the long run.

Amateur records are often very spotty, even for well-known fighters.

I've seen Lennox Lewis listed with anything from 82 to 109 amateur fights, with a record anywhere from 75-7 to 94-11 (which I believe to be right)

I have 78 of his amateur fights listed but haven't been able to find any more than that, including any of his bouts from 1981.

And he does relatively well...try looking up Riddick Bowe's complete amateur record sometimes. He's usually reported as 104-18 but I've never seen details for more than about 10 of those.

Even with Holyfield, 174 amateur fights, details are really scare.

yeah i agree with amature record being really spotty.

i had a friend who was a long time amature and he says that after a fight you are suppose to log it in your record book for your own records as their is no amature historian to keep records of all amature fights.

    Cool this is my site.

Been working on it for awhile.

I have made a few people mad at usaboxing for making it oh well. LOL

Pretty much volunteers that are putting info into it as time goes on. I am always looking for reliable volunteers to help out. Just email me.

I think that's exactly it, it's down to the people themselves and a lot of guys might either not be bothered or not think about doing so until later in their career.
