He's todays manufactured champion, just like Mayweather was. People buy the BS "fights" & the Commission rake in the $$$$$$$$$ why should they do their job & police the sport when theyre making $$$$$$$$ off the blind lemmings who believe they were real champions. The last fight PPV I bought was Lennox Lewis-Evander Holyfield rematch because I could not make it to see the fight live. I refuse to even pay 2c if its going into corrupt pockets

Why Yildirim specifically is a very interesting question to me, there has to be some story there.

Maybe it's just developing the Turkish market.

It's much simpler than. In boxing, as in life, there are winners and losers and the fans of the losing side will always complain and even go as far as making up excuses to help ease the pain.

Yildrim got the mandatory position through a series of technicalities. He boxed Dirrell for the vacant belt, but lost on a split technical decision thing that a few thought he should have got the nod. He then appealed to the WBC to get an immediate rematch, which was granted by the WBC president. Then, Yildrim took step aside money to let Dirrell / Benevidez box as long as he got the world title shot next. Somehow, Benevidez managed to avoid that, then lost his belt on the scales, allowing Canelo to fight for it vs Callum Smith.

All this time Yildrim is still mandatory because of the original appeal. All he had to do was wait until the WBC enforced it, and lo and behold he boxes against the P4P number 1. Funny how things work out!

Who gives a **** what he earns? Too many times do boxers get their pants pulled down. Good on him for earning a nice purse $$ vs the cash cow. If you can get it take it.

What should he have made? I don't think the fight should've ever been made personally, but it was. So what should he have made?

Am I mistaken, but didn't Eubank Jr. surpass Yildrim in the WBC's ratings after he knocked him out and then he was subsequently dropped because he said some disparaging things about the WBC?

The broader point is that these organizations are a joke and unworthy our affection. This example is just one of countless. There is no strong force keeping them in line (except for the IBF, that is) and therefore this continue. Yildrim belonged nowhere near a mandatory spot and part of me wishes that fighters who give these collect-a-paycheck performances would have their purses drastically reduced.

I mean he froze in the fight, which happens in fights and can't always be accounted for. Yildrim was supposed to be aggressive up until the eventual stoppage but he wasn't. Oh well.
