I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you are just trolling. What advantage does "some college education" give Algieri over people like Ward and Jones?

Well Algieri has a master's I believe and that's kind of excessive education for boxing commentating. It doesn't hurt though.

But to answer the question, what advantage does education give over the uneducated?

Mastery of the English language. Better ability to communicate written and orally. Better ability to think critically. Better ability to make sound points. The list goes on.

there's a downside to it. the more educated a person is, the more calculated his commentary is going to be. it will be boring.

people that can't read like floyd usually think they know everything. they usually spew bs after bs and sometimes that's where the fun is.

That's true. Floyd Mayweather's ignorance has lead to some hilarious statements and mishaps.

Being formally educated doesn't mean you'll speak well, or be a good commentator.

Look at Juan Diaz. He's more educated than most boxers, but he's far from a good speaker. To put it bluntly, he sounds slow and rather "duh" when he is being interviewed.

Knowing a lot about boxing doesn't mean you'll be a good commentator either. Look at Lennox Lewis, or Mike Tyson when he did a Showtime broadcast in 95'.

Agreed. I never said hire anybody with a degree. I just said eliminate the guys who don't have one.

The degree alone, of course is not nearly enough. It's a start.

That same ignorance that lead to over a half billion dollar fortune and a boxing dynasty. To even refer to a man of Floyd's stature as ignorant shows who the real dummy is.

Look in the mirror bro. If you're going to talk about education qualifications, at least convince us you have graduated from high school.

I believe Malignaggi speaks fluent spanish, italian and obviously english. He is a great orator for me and makes very astute, articulate points, I find him a commendable commentator, whose boxing IQ isn't bad either.

Man a high school diploma amounts to nothing. It's meaningless. We have people graduating high school in this country who can't read at a 4th grade level. Making them functionally illiterate.

I'd put money that Paulie is an illiterate.

And I have a bachelors. That doesn't make me special at all. 30 percent of Americans have one. All it means is that I'm educated.

Naw, what happened was, You let your jealousy and hatred for the man prompt you into making a ludicrous remark. You got yo ass on your back because somebody told you that you were educated and you believed them. Now you on here laughing and hating on a man that you perceive can't read. Calling him ignorant and such. That man has sit down with giants and negotiated successful multi million dollar deals. Nothing ignorant about that. Why don't you just give the man his props because he is successful as a human being and an inhabitant of this planet.
