You hear this often these days, about fighters taking fights and leaving it to their trainer to observe the fights. I think this is a very stupid idea and if Mayweather wasn't such a highly intelligent fighter and can hold his own under pressure, even he would run into a laundry list of problems. This is just stupid, and every fighter should always watch the tapes no matter who they're fighting. It's ridiculous not to and there'd be a lot of fighters who would maybe stop an L going on their records this way. Danny Jacobs is one that comes to mind.
i personally think its all a front, i bet he watches ALL them fight video's he just likes the whole "i'm the best and not even trying" persona.
In any sport or business the more information you have the stronger you can be against your opponent. All fighters watch tapes of their opponents if they are available. Those who dont are either lying or plain stupid .
This. Mayweather definitely watches tapes. Not just of current fighters but old ones. How do you think he perfected his style and defence without watching guys like Jersey Joe Walcott, Archie Moore, Ray Leonard and Sugar Ray Robinson? Wouldn't happen.
I mean watching tapes of current opponents. I doubt Mayweather will actually review them, he'll watch them when they're taking places, take what he needs and go into training, same with Hopkins I reckon. I just think you should always be viewing their fights.
I know of one pro who's fought for a world title who refuses to watch any footage of his opponents. He told me he can generally work out within a round or two what he has to do. Also theres a train of thought that if you do watch footage of your opponent it can have a negative effect in that it may accentuate his positives. I agree it seems logical to do your research beforehand but different strokes etc.
lol yeah dude I said that. I was just saying he watches old tapes as well as current fighters. I think Mayweather watches current fighters a lot more than you think or at least has such a good memory on seeing them once or twice that it would make no difference than if he sat down and really had a good look at them.
lol no problem mate, I'm always misreading stuff. Once I skimmed a book and misread the word 'queen' for '*****' in a history essay and proceeded to write an essay about how an English queen was in fact a lesbian. Don't worry about it.
