Something very few people mention is the fact that Kovalev has really underrated and sneaky footwork. Kovalev negates distance quite effectively with his jump back move, a form of defensive footwork rarely seen at the higher weights (Lomachenko is the master of this at the moment). Kovalev is a lengthy dude and actually has a 1" reach advantage over Ward. Ward will find closing the distance via head down bum rush to be a highly risky move against the already rangy Kovalev. People will be shocked to see Kovakev countering the incoming Ward with ease. Ward's only shot in this fight is to fight up close and clinch a lot in the hopes of frustrating/tiring Kovalev out. Brand caught Ward flush a few times with slow, telegraphed right hands. Kovakev will too (only Ward won't be able to take more than a couple of flush bombs). Kovalev KO Ward mid rounds via right hook or overhand right. I've already got a tube of **** ready.
never thought this fight would happen. so excited. think it is going to be one for the ages. Kov is going to shine and cement his legacy. Ward will do a lot of bum rushing but will get caught and hurt early. probably go into survival mode after about 4 and be finished by 7 or 8th round. wonderful night ahead. his corner better get the smelling salts ready.
i think kovalev stops ward. lewis-holyfield 1 taught me to never again bet a dime on a boxing match, so no money bets on this one either.
