Calzaghe has no interest. There was genuine disrespect from Hopkins when they fought and Calzaghe doesn't need the fight - he already has the W. The Hopkins that fought Pavlik was the same that fought Calzaghe. Calzaghe (after he figured Hopkins out) was winning rounds almost at will towards the end. Calzaghe was moving further away towards the end. The rematch would be more straightforward now he has respect for Hopkins' punch power.

The other thing to consider is that Calzaghe knows Hopkins style doesn't suit his own so the fight is unattractive. Joe likes tear ups and fighters who come forward.

There's nothing left for Calzaghe to do unless he fought Dawson... that's the only credable opponent left.

I mostly agree with you about Hopkins' chances, but there is a likelyhood that Joe will slip a little bit more before the fight is made. And you see NOTHING in B-Hop's performance against Pavlik that makes you a little bit nervous? Also -

Genuine disrespect makes a fight easier to sell, not harder. There is money here.

How many other superstars are going to come to Cardiff for Joe's swansong?

They are probably #3 and #4 p4p (unless you have Joe at 2). Makes sense to me.

it will make it an awful lot harder to negotiate, especially now as joe represents himself rather than sending fwank to go bang out a deal and bernard has never been an easy one to work with in the making of a fight.

i'm fairly sure he could entice chad dawson over as that fight would make absolutely no sense staged in the states. joe isn't a draw out there and neither is dawson. joe sold 35,000 tickets against peter frickin manfredo.

He's ****ing useless. Everyone was confused about why Jones was so nice to Joe? How about 50% for a fight where he would have been lookning for about 40?

Fair enough, if it happens, i personally will be astonished if a peaked American comes to Wales to fight Joe.

oh no doubt, joe is hardly stacked in the brain department and would probably have got a better deal against RJJ with warren doing his dealing. my point is i don't think calzaghe wants anything to do with hopkins on any level, he absolutely despises the bloke.

Jones was demanding 60/40 for a rematch with Hopkins some years ago (when Roy was still 'the man'). Remember that? Now he takes a 50/50 split with Calzaghe. Flaming hypocrite :deal

Hopefully not. Joe should either retire or fight Dawson. Although he has to make sure he does the business against Jones. I really wouldn't be looking past him.

It was always going to be unlikely. Calzaghe has never had rematches for any of his controversial or close fights. The only rematch he has had was for a fight he won by first round KO!

Why bother, the first fight was a mess, ableit with a pretty clear winner...

Calzaghe won hopkins and it was a boring fight because he could not keep up with calzaghe's pace, That's why he rejected the rematch, It would be a boring fight.
The fans would not get there moneys worth.
