    Usyk wants a rest
it is doubtful he will fight more than once a year now
& I believe him when he says he wants only Fury
but who knows when he wants that fight?
his mandatory challengers will become due soon
    IBF
    WBA
    WBO

Fury holds the WBC & defeated mandatory in April but we know they will likely call one for next April

    Joyce & Parker winner
    Hrgovic
    Ortiz & Ruiz winner
    Wilder & Helenius winner

are all lined up for a shot at a belt at some point soon

so when Usyk v Fury happens how many belts will be on the line?

    the belts are not important
but UNDISPUTED is always a good angle to sell a super fight with

Pulev was IBF mandatory, Usyk was WBO and so WBA is technically next. Usyk’s country is at war and he’s just defended against former WBA super champ Joshua. He’s verbally stated he wants Fury next and so the governing bodies will give both parties every opportunity to make undisputed next. If anybody thinks Usyk is ducking they DKSAB!!!!

none of that is comfort to those established heavyweight boxers not called Usyk or Fury though.
their promoters, managers & lawyers will rightfully push for them shots at the titles.

Usyk already stated he only wants Fury.
so . yes if you are the boxer at top of WBO, WBA or IBF rating lists, you might feel different about Usyk & ducking.

    belts might be dropped/stripped
    it's real possibility

As usyk and fury will most likely retire after the fight, a tournament for the belts would be nice even though it’s unrealistic.
    Joyce/Parker winner vs Hrgovic/Joshua winner
    Ortiz/Ruiz winner vs Wilder/Sanchez
And then let the two winners battle it out for undisputed

The belts no longer matter. Fury and Usyk are the last two standing, and any organization that does not sanction them is a joke to be briefly ridiculed, and then forgotten.

Seriously, this could be the beginning of the end of the ABC organizations, and as the few fans the sport has led twill truly just begin to ignore them.

Usyk deserves a break. Fury should be taking a fight before he faces Usyk.

The problem is that the federations sense that whoever comes out ahead here (whether its Fury or Uysk and its one, two, or three fights) - is going to retire right afterwards. Usyk's game is amazing, but its built around attributes that fighters tend to lose earlier as they age. I don't see him sticking around once he hits...aged 37. And Tyson Fury is always a threat to get bored, run away, and join the circus.

I'm inclined to believe you are right. There's a small chance it might even happen earlier. There are lots of places in the world right now where the economy is not great and people might find they can't purchase PPV boxing events because they need their money to heat their homes, buy food, etc. I don't think the federations, or the promoters, or their affiliated media networks want this fight to "marinate" because it seems like the potential box office for this fight is going to decline with each passing month.

Usyk probably needs about 4 months before starting another 8 week fight camp.

Tyson hasn't fought since late April...when he had a relatively easy 5 round outing with Whye...and he's younger than Usyk to boot. Fury should be good to go right now. And if there's one thing we've learned from Fury in the past...it's that you may not want him to take an extended break because he tends to get...distracted.
