@CST80 here. I made this account a few years back to do inquisitive threads like this, because I wanted to keep my Educate Yourselves threads, articles and RBR's on my original account, and didn't want my thread history to get too muddied up with threads that are somewhat disposable talking about individual matches. So this is not an alt meant to troll, this is an alt meant to make different threads, it's like a different thread making personality. So none of you get any big ideas. Trolling accounts will be banned on sight. On to the point of this thread. Omar has been off for an astounding 19 months, his last match was against Robert Guerrero, who let' face it, was a shell of himself, it was a war but The Ghost, as willing as his heart and mind were that night, his chin and his body were not complying. So my question is this, was Omar that impressive or was Robert just that shot? After all, Omar looked like absolute hell against Antonio DeMarco and looked on the verge of being KO'd late, and before that went life and death with Ricky Burns. What kind of an effect will this 19-month layoffs have on him? Will come back fully refreshed and ready to rumble, or will these long-ass breaks that he's been taking finally catch up to him? He was arrested for a DUI during a layoff, is his health in tip-top shape? Style-wise, this match favors Molina, who has good timing and when he's not in with a superior counter-puncher or boxer, can be the technician when he needs to be. After all it was a perfectly time counter the drop Lucas Mathysse early in their fight, and he was able to keep Provodnikov behind his jab the entire night. wild by no means am I making the argument that John Molina Jr is a great boxer, when he's in there with face-first brawlers which Omar Figueroa tends to be, he has a decent back foot game, precisely due to the immense power he carries. Can Omar who seem to get shaken up by carrero a few times and I was stunned badly by DeMarco an blindly walk into bomb after bomb from Molina without going down? Especially after a long layoff? I'm not entirely sure. Not only could this be fight of the year, it could also be yet another upset in what appears to be another upset-minded year. What say you?
If Molina chin holds up, this is going to be epic war, these two were made for each other. And no one cares.
This one slipped under the radar . Ever since Broner-Fig got cancelled I forgot about him Nice fight here
Figueroa had some big problems with his shoulder, he couldn't train properly and i doubt he will be in the best shape for this one. Molina should have a pretty decent chance to win if his chin holds up and he's fighting smart.
I think a firefight (which I believe this fight eventually becomes) favors Molina. The bulk of his losses have only come against far better and higher level performers than Figueroa. IMO I don't think Figueroa has enough firepower or high enough skillset to beat Molina. Molina has survived and or given trouble to/against far bigger hitters.
