There's no one great at 160 for GGG to beat, but Hopkins didn't beat anyone either

Hopkins has no great wins at 160, not one. DLH had gotten his **** pushed in by Sturm and was not a natural 160 fighter, neither was Trinidad. Hell, Hagler had no great wins at 160, all his great wins were guys coming up to 160 like Duran and Hearns. Except Mugabi who was overrated to make Hagler look better. Hagler got schooled by a retired, old, one eyed Leonard, that's bad. Two overrated "legends".

It speaks volumes when you have to talk down atgs to make your favorite look better. Golovkin's record should stand on its own, no need to denigrate Hopkins or Hagler, and I don't even like Hopkins.

Mugabi wasn't overrated at all. Did you see the guy fight outside of his match with Hagler (which was one of the best wars at MW for the entire decade?)

He also beat Antuofermo and Hamsho who were both top notch MW's. Vito was probably a little past his prime when Hagler got him in the rematch (after he was robbed in their first matchup,) but those were still some of the best MW's of the late 70's/early 80's. Hamsho was an excellent fighter in his prime and one of the very best 160 lbers in the early 80's.

Hagler was all about the money though the moment he won the title. I mean it took the guy 50 pro fights just to get the title (including having to cross the pond to get the title against Minter,) so he made a concerted effort throughout the 80's to try and only be in fights that would score him big paydays. Luckily for him the biggest names in boxing were fighting in and around his weightclass by than (i.e. Duran, Hearns and later Leonard.)

Actually Hearns is not a natural Welterweight. He outgrew 147 at age 22. He's much more of a Middleweight than Welterweight.

In addition, I agree that Hopkins does not have a great win at 160. Or anywhere really. He has no standout wins.

Pavlik was on the pound for pound when Hopkins beat him so that is a stand out win in my book

He was the underdog against Trinidad too regardless if you rate Trinidad or not, when has ggg ever been an underdog and that's not ****ting on ggg coz it's not his fault he hasn't got worthy opponents in his weight

He's just speaking the truth regarding Hopkins.

When you are having to fight Robert Allen 3 times its saying something about the depth of the division.

The division was mediocre when Hopkins ruled.

Why throw Hagler's name in there? I am not convinced that Mugabi couldn't take Golovkin at 160. Moreover, Trinadad and Oscar were belt holders at 160 and probably could have beat anyone on Golovkin's resume. Threads like this turn people against Golovkin.

So is GGG's both men need respect for doing what there doing which is unifying, once ggg snatches the final belt off Saunders he should forget the middle weight division there's no one on his level there if he can go up and unify the super middle then his in the convo for atg and can compare to Hopkins right now he is anywhere near Hopkins legacy because he's not been the underdog in any fight

I agree with you completely some fans make it difficult to root for GGG because they denegrate other fighters to elevate him, GGG is a great fighter he hasn't tested himself so far but when he does we can get a better idea of how great he truly is or can be .
