I've just been looking at a couple of Pacquiao's bout, and I absolutely love the build up to these fights. the anthems especially are always quality. It's a shame the US anthem of often by some R'n'B **** adding to such a beautiful song. JMM/Pac II had an awesome build up.

Any recommendations? I could watch the build up all day :D

By the way, has someone like Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston ever done a big fight? I can't remember them doing one, but I would have thought they woud at some point.

The best National Anthem that I ever saw was the Whitney Houston one.

All of the build-ups to Pacquiao's fights gets me excited.. RnB singers do ruin the American anthem these days by trying to sing in high pitches and carrying notes.. Ray J murdered the national anthem last time I remembered..

I think it was the BHop/Calzaghe fight, but I'm not 100% sure.. I just remember him singing the anthem and butchering it.. I also remember some female singing the anthem too who also killed it, but can't remember it.. I think she was an RnB singer as well.. They should just stick to like 10 year old girls to sing the anthem, since it seem's like kid's sing it a lot better than the adults do these days..

Yeah, that's true. The girl who sang the American anthem for JMM/Pac II was only 14 and she wasa great talent.

I hate the praise Tom Jones gets too. He kills God Save The Queen every time he sings it. It doesn't work in that tone of voice, at all. It would be like Justin Timberlake doing a rendition of Con Te Partiro.

Anthems should be left to singers like Mariah Carey. They add to it, but don't go over the top with the adjustment. Her version of the Star-Spangled Banner at the Superbowl was incredible.

Tom Jones was terrible singing God save the Queen, but he did do a good job on the Welsh anthem - apart from mixing a few lines up.

I've watched the BHop V Calzaghe fight a few times, and having watched Calzaghe fight in a low key fight at Cardiff Ice Rink, it was surreal seeing him out in Vegas, when they cut away to a shot of Vegas as the American anthem was being slaughtered I thought to myself - it doesn't come any bigger than this.

Big fights in boxing is the best entertainment you can get. :good

Even in dissapoints like Ricky Hatton vs Mayweather Jr, you're always on the edge of your seat always engrossed with what is going on. That's the difference between a casual fan, and a boxing fan.
