There's so much more to do at 168 for Ward, he should not be thinking about 175 atm.

I would like to see if he's great enough to beat an elite bigger guy. :nod

Beating Kova would be a special accomplishment. Nothing he can do at 168 would be as impressive. :nod

Dominate it again, there's too much left at 168. People would be calling him a division hopper. :-(

    Groves
    Jack
    Froch 2
    Chudinov

It's dumb. I think people who want Ward to move up to 175 only care about seeing him lose. He isn't fit to be 175.

I've actually created a poll about Ward vs Kovalev
    http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?p=17155035

and I've said "I can't name a clear favorite". It's not about wanting him to lose, it's just a big fight everyone wants to see and a big opportunity for him to establish himself as an ATG. Staying at SMW will do nothing to his legacy and he won't make a lot of money either.

I don't only care about seeing him lose. I like Ward and want to see just how great he is. It would be an amazing achievement for him to beat Kovalev. Far greater than beating any of the men you listed. :nod

It is about wanting him to lose with you guys, that's the problem.

You don't care about Ward's ATG status. Stop bull****ting. :patsch

Him dominating 168 again and being the greatest ever at that weight class lifts him higher than beating Kovalev.

I don't want to see him lose. I just want to see if he's as great as I think he is. :nod

Dominating 168 again (His true weight class) should be priority #1. After he gets through everyone again, then he can move up. That's my point.

    Let's wait 3-4 years.

Kovalev will be 36, still a very good age.

    Ward will be 34.

That's when we should see the fight. When both men have cleaned their divisions out entirely.

lol you just don't want him to risk his zero. Anyway, I made my point.

There was no point made. :patsch

I want him to be great at his weight class, there's weight divisions for a reason. His 0 has nothing to do with it. :hi:

Who knows where both men will be in 3-4 years? If he looks good against Smith then I'd be happy to see a Kovalev fight next. :nod

That would be very dumb on Ward and Virgil's end. He's not a fit 175, not even close. He's 173.4 2 and a half weeks b4 the weigh in man. Come on!!

I think if it was at a catchweight of 170 or 171, it'd be good.

I think that would be fair if this fight ACTUALLY gets made.

I'd love to see it at 175. Would be an amazing win. 170 or 171 would drain Sergey badly. A win at that weight would be next to meaningless. :nod

I think 171 is the most fair for most fighters.

I don't want to see a bloated up Ward, that would be next to meaningless win for Kovalev imo.

You can't have it both ways man.

The run-up weigh-ins don't mean much. Look at Geale. He was 158 a month away and 167 2 weeks away. In the end he looked zombified and terrible. For all we know Ward could be 182 in a week. :nod.
