There's so much more to do at 168 for Ward, he should not be thinking about 175 atm.

It's possible, but we've never seen Ward have trouble making 168.

    He's a comfortable 168.

If we want a fully fair fight at 175, we should wait until Ward develops INTO the weight, 2-3-4 years down the line.

If Kovalev wants a fight now, then he'll most likely be asked to come down slightly to 170 or 171.

    I think that's fair.

I think Ward would be a very comfortable 175. Not bloated at all. Sergey would be badly drained at 171. Meaningless win for Andre at that weight. I'd like to see a health 175 lb Ward fight a healthy 175 lb Sergey. That would be a great fight. :nod

Yes, he'll be healthy once he develops into the weight. Virgil already claimed that they'll go back to 168 after this.

He's just not a natural 175er, his body isn't at that stage yet. I don't blame him.

    Give it a while

Once he gets those names out of there (the ones I stated), he should move up when his body adjusts better. Then we'll have a fair fight imo.

I think he could be a very comfortable 175 right now. I'd love to see that fight. 3-4 years down the line there may be injuries, personal problems, prime years may be behind them. Let's see it while they're both very good and healthy. :nod

I think he could comfortable make either weight and fight there. Just like Bernard could have been making 168 or 175 for years. :nod

That's not right now though, if he could make 175 comfortably, he would have already.

    He can't, that's the problem.

In 2-4 years, he'll develop into a real 175er I reckon, his body just isn't at that stage. He's not big enough.

He might not have made 175 because he doesn't want to, not because he can't. I think that's more likely. I'd love to see healthy Ward vs healthy Kova at 175 ASAP. Great fight. :nod

Virgil already made the claim that he'll be going back down to 68, and that's a very smart move imo.

He needs time for his body to adjust.

    Good move.

Either one would be a good move. 168 or 175. He'd be very comfortable at either. 168 much safer, easier route. 175 is the path to true greatness. We'll see which he chooses. Should be interesting. :nod

By not big enough he's not good enough.

168 is also the route to greatness, staking his claim as GOAT @ 168. He's at the prime of his career.

It's a good path to take, something that almost everyone would do atm.

If you think he's not good enough, then why do you care about watching him fight Kovalev? :nut

He's a clear 168 pounder and he'll be there for the next few years, really good imo.

175 the path to true greatness. This will be his 3rd career fight at 172. His body seems ready to move up. Next step is Kovalev at 175 for a shot at long term, memorable greatness.
