No, I mean I had no idea Korobov and Beterbiev fought each other in the amateurs. That's what you're saying, right? I've literally just woken up after having about two hours sleep so I might have read that wrong.

And despite Korobov getting hurt by Edwards and stopped by Lee, I think he has a very good chin. As far as I'm aware he was never stopped in any of his 300 plus amateur fights and he fought at an extremely high level for a long time and against a who's who of the MW division. I've not seem him hurt once in any of the amateur fights of his I've seen nor ever heard anything suggesting he was.

Its a good attempt but in reality non of these fighters are anywhere near the quality to even nudge GGG a little.

    This is how it goes.

Lemeiux - Barely gets past two rounds, all depends on how quickly GGG wants to end it.

Khtrov - Simply too green . Amature vs pro - Massive difference.

Lee - Simply gets cut in half after about 4 rounds.

    Don't know number 4.

BJS - Wins the first with movement then gets knocked cold in the 2nd.

From what I saw yesterday...I think time is the only thing that can lay a hand on GGG at middleweight anyway. I would really like to see a GGG v Froch fight though.

i think Lemieux would get hurt quickly and be chicken dancing, too simple for Golovkin to figure out.

Golovkin boxed Lee's ears off at World's 15-3 and Triple G is 10x the fighter he was as an amateur. they interviewed him after the Murray fight last night and he doesn't seem to really want it.

Khytrov maybe in a couple of years, he's the only middleweight with a real chance, someday.

    Chudinov and Saunders??? c'mon man!

Murata looked very ordinary his last fight. maybe a blip but he's nowhere near Triple G's league and probably never will be.

That 30 second knockout Khytrov had over Fortune told me nothing. So I went and watched his fights with Julius Kennedy as a pro and Murata as an amateur. The Murata footage makes him look good, but the Kennedy footage shows him getting hit a lot. His defense is wide open, if you could even say that he has one. When he steps up, somebody is going to exploit that and he'll be going to sleep. He's got a good work rate, a good punch, and good offense but if Julius Kennedy wasn't having any trouble finding the target you can bet a seasoned contender won't either.

I've never been impressed by Chudinov. I remember seeing him get dropped and hurt by a nobody in one of his early fights. His defence is very porous too.

The title says "A Slight Chance" so I feel comfortable saying if the fights were signed that I would think these guys have "a slight chance" of winning at 160 (in relative order).

    Lara
    Alvarez
    Quillin
    Lee
    Jacobs
    Murata
    Andrade
    Cotto
    Lemeiux

Those last couple are starting to become a stretch even for the inviting thread title criteria and after these fighters I couldn't name any more in my opinion. Guys like Ndam and Molina are too chinny while guys like Bundrage, Sergio, and Murray II also start to enter the frame next in the discussion and you have to chuckle at that. Golovkin is proving to be a wrecking machine and 160 is very weak right now. I really think Lara and Alvarez probably give him two of the best fights at 160 despite never fighting above 157, I believe. If a genie were holding a gun to my head to pick 5 Middleweights to beat Golovkin I would name Lara, Alvarez, Jacobs, Murata, and Quillin. Strange, perhaps, but not sure what else to make of it.

Lol @ BJS having a chance against GGG.

CEJ was blitzing him when he put his foot down! GGG ends him.

lol Korobov's amateur CV is fantastic enough as it is. A win over Beterbiev as well would push it that much higher.

Not to notpick, but Korobov was out on his feet against Derek Edwards at the end of round 1.

Another few seconds and it would have been stopped

Khytrov in couple years will present a serious challenge and GGG will be 35 by then.

Chudinov and Lemieux would be awesome fights and yes they do have a slight chance.
    Good thread! :good:happy

I'd give Cotto a better chance than Saunders due to punching power. There is a small chance Cotto could land a lucky perfect punch whereas Saunders has pretty much no chance at all.
