Something that hasn't been discussed is how this type of a blow (Intentional or not) could really damage or ruin a fighter's career. I know it's premature, but this type of stuff can how have a strong negative effect on a fighter... at least potentially speaking. Hopefully this isn't the case. I'm not the one to say "One loss and he's exposed/shot," but the point is that this could affect Dirrell's career in a bad way. Not only physically and mentally. He doesn't deserve this, no one does. It's an unlucky break, and a shame for a fighter to end in such a fashion.

    As Tarver said, "Tragic."

I was thinking maybe the guy had some internal bleeding or something, when he was already up and getting interviewed.

Like the injury slowly got worse and worse as the minutes passed.

It looked like he was about to cry and he was scared and confused.

And the interview answers was weird.

It did get progressively worse...I can't believe his team was slapping and shaking him around so shortly afterward despite the fact it was clear Dirrell didn't know what was going on and thought he'd actually lost the fight. I hope he's alright because Abraham doesn't need to land his best shot to hurt you.

I've said it in other threads, and I'll repeat it again: just an unfortunate ending all around.

Yes, the doctor mentioned this in the locker room as a concern.

I truly hope that's not the case, that will turn his fight into an even more tragic and terrible situation.

Also, remember him grabbing his head. He was saying his head was hurting so bad.

It was scary and I'm not sure why Dirrell didn't recieve medical attention sooner. They were trying an interview at one point...just stupid. He certainly didn't appear to be faking and looked like he had no idea where he was at or what was going on....it appeared he even thought he lost the fight at one point. He also took a few scary punches earlier in the fight, specifically a right in the second that he gave a "weird" reaction to.

I don't know. I don't believe Abraham intentionally hit him while he was down, not until he saw the video in the post-fight interview, you could just see his body language change. Dirrell is always off balance and dips low, I think Abraham just saw chin and attacked.

Horribly officiated fight at any rate. Knockdowns not called, a head butt and other fouls not called, a slippery ring....etc. Just ugly, feel bad for both fighters.

I fighter comes back from a loss but when they come back from a ko they're time is shortened. Yes, of course, there are some exceptions, but a ko is a ko whether Dirrell won or not. His career might have been shortened imo.

Yes, I was perplexed at his team yelling and shaking him. I guess they were shook up and confused as if they can knock him with a dose of sense. The interview was beyond stupid. That's Jim Grey though... he's a bit of a pompous forward ******* in my opinion.

Yep, well said. I'm not sure Abraham did it intentionally. In the post-fight he was aggressively defensive. I think he didn't see his feet, but I don't really know.

The officiating was a bit off.

Bump... because idiots are focusing on how Dirrell is faking convulsions and memory loss, and not focusing on the fact that his career could never be the same because of this.

bobby crabtree has been knocked out 30 times....while he was never even contender status, and even though he is pretending to fight....a guy like him take a 100 times worse of a beating and no one sees it or gives a ****.....no cares that a guy like sergio lycovich, comes back a few months ago and is allowed to fight a human punching bag jeremy bates whos been knocked out 8 of 9 last fights, most all in 1 or 2 rounds
but everyone bent out of shape on dirrells health because of one good punch.....

You're the idiot that says you've seen 1000 of boxing knockouts but never a delayed reaction with trembling. You're a clueless fool.

Exactly. These people are either grossly biased, or they don't know much about the sport - or both. :yep

****, there are apparently people who think that Abraham was WINNING at the time of the stoppage! :patsch

I believe they mean he was winning the round, not the fight.

I'm not sure he was even winning the round, but anyway that's what they meant. At least I hope they did. :blood
