I agree that those guys being deemed as top 100 heavyweights would be pretty shameful. About the only man a case might be made for is possibly Shannon Briggs who after all holds the all time first round KO record at heavy and beat a lineal champion. Still I can't see him being placed.

How would you rate him against Baksi?

Baksi beat him and seemed to actually do better over the long haul, but was never rated as high as Mauriello. Baksi also had fewer, if any, embarrassing defeats. He always seems to have given a good account of himself.

Great names Matt and Very Good effort, but just a point as to WHY these kind of lists break down.

Greb whom is undoubtedly a ATG and arguably the best at MW, to honestly think he belongs in a HW list is just So Inaccurate.

most of your 100 HW's would beat him bad and over the course of history a couple of hundred more.

the point is these achievement list are so misleading. and to Greb's MERIT any HWs he beat or even his best victories at L-HW RAISES his Over ALL ranking at Middleweight.

and this is how it should be for Greb and ALL fighters at their True and Proper weight!

but Well Done all the same.

Take your point. The reason for his inclusion is that for five or more years he was in the top three or so fighters in the World.

I know Matt, but fighters like Greb and ALL fighters should get the highest marks for such prowess and by them being wrongly included outside of their true weights then the ridiculous often creeps in by ill informed fans and even informed people getting caught up in achievements and forgetting or dismissing realistic head to head reality.

But nothing at all wrong with your list and research applied, I for one just don't rely too much on lists in general.

GREAT measuring sticks, but reality and the full possibility/probability? NO!

I saw him fight and lose to Mike DeJohn on TV. Could box and punch a little and had a good chin, but was slow. His two bad defeats to the one top fighter he fought, Folley, removes him from consideration for me.

I don't beleieve Akinwande has enough good wins on his ledger. Peter mcneely, timo Hoffman and Orlin Norris is not getting job done.
I would vote for Corrie Sanders he crushed Wlad and gave inspired performances against Vitali and Rahman.
Schaaf I would have had as a lock. Only stopped once in final bout with meningitis.
If you're placing Greb there maybe room for mickey Walker on back end? Didn't do too much at heavy but beat Risko and held to a disputed draw against sharkey? How about Paulino Uzcudun very durable ko'd an old Wills and defeated a young Max Baer very up and down career but fought a lot and fought quality guys like Louis, Schmeling, and the aforementioned guys.

Hamas might scrape in but he really only has Schmeling which was brutally avenged. Loughran too but he was up and down at heavy. I would likely leave him off.

I think that Philadelphia Jack O Brien must be in this list, ahead of most of those guys. Mick Dooley, also, was a lot better than most of these guys, imo. And Joe Choynski, is another. Those three guys are very underated for their achievements at Heavy. As to which three to replace, i never rated Clarke and i dont think Akinwande is up to top 100 (even though i think he is underated by most). NOt sure who else to leave out maybe Hamas or Jackson i guess. excellent list, by the way.
