I think Marquez can beat just about anybody else at 122, Vasquez I am very concerned about though and I say this as a fan of Marquez and not really a fan of Vasquez. I mean, don't get me wrong, I have more respect for Vasquez than I do for my preferred fighter in this trilogy and I'm more concerned about his health than my guy Rafael. Marquez took some ****ing punishment, no doubt, but Vasquez took BRUTAL punishment throughout. If Vasquez had even slightly lesser than an iron chin, he'd have lost all 3 fights with the bombs he was absorbing from Rafa. Rafa is a top 3 P4P KO puncher, I hope people realise that. Vasquez, no matter who he fights, is going to take punishment and he doesn't need this anytime soon. Marquez has the skill to get away from punishment from lesser than elite fighters, so I'm not even worried about him at all in terms of health. Israel deserves all the respect in the world. What a ****ing warrior and all of those critics who had negative things to say about him quitting in the first ought to punch themselves in the face. Godspeed them both, but no more of these fights. Israel is the winner of the trilogy but the reality is that there are no losers because both of them are cemented into boxing history and both of them have thrilled both the casual fan and the purist alike with these wars. Incredible, but no more.
As Much As I Know The Fight Would Be Exciting. I Dont Want These Guys Mixing It Up Again. For Fear That One May Not Make It Out Again.
There has been a tiebreaker, and whether you want to argue how close it was or not, a Marquez loss in a fourth fight would be a near certainty. So even setting aside the question of both fighter's well-being for a moment, extending the trilogy makes no sense as it stands little chance of tying up 2-2...no reason to blow Vazquez's comfortable momentum-fueled lead from 2-1 to 3-1.
A Vazquez/Ponce De Leon would be a great fight, I don't know who'd I want to win though. I would hope both Marquez and Vazquez take some serious time off as they'll both be hurting in the morning. If they fight again, hopefully this fight (as well as the other 2) will make for a large payday...they shouldn't do this again unless they get a large amount of money IMO.
I don't think there is anything better out there and Im not sure either of these guys can ever fight again as great as they did tonight. The original poster was right, these fights take a serious toll. I'd love to see them fight again because it was so satisfying, but I hope they dont. For some reason I got an uneasy feeling one of these guys careers will start to decline very rapidly within a few more fights. I hope not, but sometimes when you leave it all in the ing like that, it tough to get it back to the way it was.
You'd have to be sadistic to want to see them fight again. Both took absolutely brutal punishment and I'd like to see them have 2 or 3 more fights and retire. They gave us one of the best trilogies of all time and should be remembered forever
I would like to see Vasquez vs De Leon and Marquez vs Caballero. These guys should rest for 6 months though. Like someone said they have given us enough, they should take a break and fight towards the end of the year.
thats certainly how i see it. a 4th would have been needed only for a draw, but this was a hell of a way to end this trilogy.
dude they should NOT do a 4th fight. These guys are going to be mentally ill when they're older if they keep this up.
