Well now that Botha vs. Holyfield is officially off due to money according to the scene of boxing, what the hell are we Botha fans gonna get excited about now? Holyfield's replacement is Joy "Minnesota Ice" Abbel. Not a bad opponent I suppose, but a major step down from Evander Holyfield.

Holyfield vs Botha now moved to Las Vegas instead of Uganda...
Also look for a youngster by the name of Mlungisi Dlamini on the undercard.

i hope your right Kayo! i know you the man with the inside info but is that for definate or just rumoured?

Much better for both parties in my mind. I must confess i know nothing about this Joey "Minnesotta Ice" Abell? He has a fairly impressive knockout record but against other people on the whole i have never heard off. i guess for Botha if he wins this one his ranking at least should improve and of course his fitness and ring rust. Has anyone seen much of Abell? Is he a good test?

From the ESPN website the Botha v Holyfield fight seems to still be on. And like KAYO told us it now seems more likely in March and in the us.

    Still hope springs eternal

Not all that great to be honest. A hard punch but not much else. He could quite possibly be a handful for Botha at this stage though. I can still see Botha digging into his bag of tricks and pulling off a decision win over Abell.

Cheers for the joey abell action MR White he does punch hard by the looks of things.

From what i have been reading if Botha can beat Abell then he will then have a shot at Holyfield afterwards. Ken Sanders the manager of holyfield is saying if he beats Botha in march and Rossy at a later date he will then get a shot at Vitaly Klichsko. So i reckon if Botha wins against hard hitting Abell and then Holyfield perhaps he will get the shot? Its make or break time for these two in the twilights of their careers. Also against fairly robust tough opposition.

    Go Botha! Dont underestimate Abell.

Looks like the fight with Evander is back on in Vegas! April 24 so Ken Sanders his manager has said. Think the fight with Abell is still on too. Could be an interesting time for us Botha fans. However he best not lose the first otherwise he can kiss goodbye to the Holyfield fight. I hope he just goes for the Holyfield fight. I think Evanders mind might defenitely be elswhere with all his money and women problems.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission's meeting on Monday ought to be interesting. That's when Roy Jones Jr. and Evander Holyfield, both all-time greats who are in their 40s and frighteningly past their primes, will go before the panel to ask for boxing licenses in order to participate in fights scheduled for April in Las Vegas. Jones, of course, has an April 3 date with Bernard Hopkins. Holyfield, who probably will face more scrutiny from the Nevada panel than Jones, is headed for an April 17 date with Francois Botha in a bout that was originally scheduled to take place in Uganda on Feb. 20.

This is what i found out from the ESPN Blog. I guess on monday we will know if Holyfield will be availiable for the fight or not. And whether Botha will fight Abell or Holyfield. I hope they give him the licence. The Vegas date sounds good to me! Oh and i hope Jones gets it too and finishes Hopkins.
