I would like to see Botha take out Holyfield then maybe get a shot at Haye/Ruiz winner.

I hope so. But i think if holyfield wins this fight he will get a title shot straight away. If Botha wins he will more likely need to fight another fight against a big name in the top ten before he gets a shot.

This is what has been posted on FIGHTNEWS. Looks like the fight is on in LAS VEGAS!

47-year-old former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield was granted a one fight boxing license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday. The decision opens the door for Evander to face 41-year-old WBF champ Frans Botha on April 17 at the Orleans Hotel & Casino.

I live in Washington State so it is a couple of hours flight from here. Not that bad. I would fly down for the weekend and catch the fight if I do end up going. It all depends upon when the fight is to take place (if it ever does, haha). Gosh, I am a huge fan of both guys and couldn't possibly root against either, so I am just going to have to say may the best man win.

At last some real confirmation! 10 April at the Thomas and Mack centre, come on!!!! All this build up and they can finally get focused! Last chance for both. Any thoughts anyone? Seems to be alot of negative feedback about the fight. But i think there will be enough people wanting to see it to make it a success. I think the fights itself going to be pretty close between the two old war horses so could be a real *******!

Bad fight to bet on. It is a question of how much Holyfield has left and what kind of shape Botha will come in. I give an edge to Holyfield because you know that he will come in top shape and if the fight is close they will probably give it to him so that he can win a world title and hopefully retire. I see a close decision probably going to Evander but I think that it would be nice if Botha won because that would probably motivate Evander to retire more.

Providing his test sample is clean this fight is well and truly on!! Go Botha!

I win for either of these two and a big match beckons. I just hope Botha can get the result in this one. I hope it is on internet PPV or i am going to miss it.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission tentatively has approved a license for Francois Botha to fight Evander Holyfield on April 10 in Las Vegas.

The approval hinges on a urine test that Botha must pass upon his arrival to the United States.

"I'm looking forward to fighting a great legend in this beautiful city," Botha said in a teleconference Wednesday afternoon at the Grant Sawyer State Office Building.

Commissioners voiced concerns over Botha's drug-testing process in South Africa, where he currently resides, and conditionally approved the license to fight over the age of 35, pending a clean urine sample.

After a 1995 victory over Germany's Axel Schulz, Botha (47-4-3) tested positive for the steroid nandrolone. He was disciplined in Germany and by the New York State Athletic Commission.

"I admitted that I unknowingly had it in my system," he said of the positive test.

The fight is scheduled for April 10 at the Thomas & Mack Center, and on the line is the vacant WBF heavyweight belt.

Seriously what is the problem with these two fighting. They are a little too old yes. This should have been done ten years ago yes. But they both know the dangers and they both know how difficult this fight is going to be. But i for one am backing this fight and the Jones jnr vs Hopkins fight for that matter. It should be a ******* between two fighters who equally want the win. Its marginally more dangerous for a fighter to get hit in the head when they are young to when they are slightly older. This if i can see it in the uk will be at the least entertaining. A live Botha fight in the uk has always been difficult to see and is a bit like gold dust. But now, when i might actually get the chance to see it on ppv in the uk everyone is putting this fight down. This fight will probarbly be better than some of the biggest fights in boxing at the moment, just look at the Pac and Clottey fight! This will be far better than that. Watch 90's heavyweights show the youngstershow to put on a fight!!! Go Botha put Evander to sleep and get yourself one last shot!!!!!!!
