Its Holyfield vs Botha October 22. Seems to be near definite. Does anyone think the result will be any different? The fight will be in South Africa this time so he will have home advantage. Its will also pull in a much larger crowd i should think. Mind you i hear Holyfield is pretty popular in SA so he could in fact be the favourite.

On another point i wonder if Botha was to win this fight does he then go on to fight for the WBA strap?

Totally agree mate. He really needs to step up the training. Being saying that for a along time. He did lose some weight prior to their first fight but he needs to lose more. If he could last the distance fitness wise i give him a good chance!

Depends how you define good? Good fights to watch? If so he is better than most heavyweights. In terms of winning big fights then no he is not. But as it is for me a blend of personality, effort, a good story and maybe a proverbial underdog which makes a good boxer then Botha is very good and still is. Annoys me a bit when i see Wlad and Vit picture clad person comes in here and says that. Have some respect for a hard working boxer from humble roots. He may not have won the titles or beaten the brothers but he sure as hell had more interesting fights than they ever did.

Bad fight for Botha. Grant is so strong, powerful, and has the reach/height advantage. I don't see this ending well for the White Buffalo.

Maybe true but im hoping Botha goes for this kind of tactic. up close and personal. Demonstrated by Dominic guinn who also had less height and reach than grant. Its still a long shot for Botha, but i think he could do it. War Botha!

A true David vs. Goliath battle. Botha doesn't have the power to KO Grant (unless Grant's chin has got even worse) but remember that Botha beat Briggs when Briggs was still decent, and Grant is similar to a prime Briggs in many ways (though with less power).

    WAR BOTHA! :bbb

A news article i found today with Botha sounding in confident mood. He is saying all the right things. If he gets himself into good shape like he says perhaps he could be right. Would be a good scalp for him if he could knock him out.

    Go Botha!

    Buffalo sees another KO coming

    06 October 2011, 18:02

Francois Botha aims to lose some weight during the next few weeks and then knock out American heavyweight Michael Grant on November 9.

The South African veteran and Grant are scheduled to fight for the WBF title in a tournament to be held at Montecasino, Johannesburg.

After his surprise knockout of Flo Simba in June, “The White Buffalo” believes he is ready for any opponent.

"I see a knockout coming," Botha said on Thursday. "I'm going to reclaim the belt that I lost to Evander Holyfield, but he (Holyfield) will have to stand in line after I've knocked out Grant."

Botha, 43, believes victory over Grant will secure a rematch with Holyfield, a former world heavyweight champion.

Botha said he had started training and was already in better shape than before his fight against Simba. He intends to drop about 8 kg before the bout.

"I will definitely be in better shape for Grant. I have more time to prepare now. It’s going to be easier to shed the extra weight," he said.

"If I come in 40 per cent better than I am now, nobody can beat me. I'm not easy to hit, even though it looks like it because my hands are down. But in the ring it's a different story."

Botha is also planning to promote boxing in South Africa and throughout Africa through Showpony Promotions.

"We're doing our next show in February when we want to bring Evander Holyfield back. Then we want to stage shows in Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

"We're basically doing a road show all through Africa and reviving boxing."
