From the German SES promotions website Francois Botha (via video chat): "In my last fight was not really fit. I want to prove myself again in Frankfurt. If I can not win the fight, I'm going to think about quitting. There are good young boxer in South Africa. Maybe I should make them up space. " This really could be Botha's last fight! Never heard him talking about this before. But for me i dont see it happening in this fight. I think he will win it.
Pianeta v Botha is back on, 10 rounds scheduled for September 7, will be televised as well. Hopefully it happens this time, I predict Pianeta wins by 3-4 rounds though.
Cheers for the update zxcvbnm. I havent been able to find much news about the Buffalo for a while hence the quiteness in here but that sure seems like a good fights for both fighters! I hope i can get the fight oniline.
Quotes from the Botha Pianeta presser Francesco Pianeta: “Francois Botha is the next step on my way to the top. Now I can beat one ex-world champion after the other!” Francois Botha via Skype: “I will once again come to Germany to continue my career. I must and will clearly defeat Francesco Pianeta! I have so many fans in Germany. I owe it to them.”
News for the Botha fights seem to come like london buses. As i looked through the bbc website i found this. Looks like Botha has two fights lined up. And if he doesnt win this one he needs to retire asap!!! All Blacks star Williams to fight Francois Botha New Zealand rugby star Sonny Bill Williams will fight former heavyweight contender Francois Botha in Durban on 17 November, according to a promoter. Promoter Thinus Strydom said arrangements for the bout, which is scheduled for Durban on 17 November, were concluded this week. All Blacks wing Williams is the New Zealand heavyweight champion. Botha, 43, has fought Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and Wladimir Klitschko in a 59-bout career. Asked earlier this year about a possible fight against Williams, Botha told South African newspaper Rapport he would do it "during half-time of a rugby match" with "one hand tied behind my back". The 27-year-old Williams helped New Zealand beat Australia on Saturday but is quitting the All Blacks to play rugby union in Japan next season. Since 2009 he has boxed five times, winning all of his bouts.
Come Botha win this one and the twilight of your career is back on! Here is some pictures from the press conference for Botha vs Pianeta (Taken from Fightnews website). Botha looks in pretty good shape in the pictures and his arms look pretty massive but weather that is all muscle or too much fat we will find out. Noone seems to have pressed this Pianeta hard yet but im hoping Botha can test that green chin of his. Will await the results of the weigh in with great interest. Go Botha! :bbb http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/botha-pianeta-presser-132926
Frans Botha: “I came to Germany to show everyone again. Sorry Germany, I’m going to pulverize these ‘green kids’ into dust. Lose is not in my vocabulary. Ulf Steinforth, whom I like very much, has unfortunately made a mistake with this fight – his boy is is going to get run over by the ‘buffalo’. The ‘White Buffalo’ is has a lot left and has big plans. I want to fight for the chance to get one of the “Klitschko Sisters. To do this, Pianeta must suffer!” Might be a little optomistic me thinks!!!
Not sure if anyone is interested on here or not. but the weigh photos are up for the Pianeta vs Botha fight. Francesco Pianeta vs. Francois Botha / 110.0 kg: 124.9 kg Botha weighs in the highest he ever has. But from the picture he looks in pretty good shape. if you would like to see the picture go to this http://translate.googleusercontent....sflash&usg=ALkJrhip1vV_J40Cr4NQnDVA1Ktfp-Vgtg
Pianeta wins this easy. I think the Takam fight showed that Botha cannot compete at this level any more.
Botha Vs Sonny Bill Williams at the weekend for the WBA international title. Botha claims to have lost alot of weight. I think he should win this. But he needs to win by KO or its going to go against him. Thoughts anyone?
Think he beats Williams. He may be old and heavy but hes still a guy who is a legitimate boxer. Williams has struggled with guys who are just as old and just as fat, but who havent been world class like the white buffalo. Francoid can still KO the likes of Williams
