Both of them were great talents, but obviously they have wasted almost everything. Rigo is only half-succesfull, Lara too... What do you think about these Cubans ? I have to add : my favourite amateur boxer was T. Stevenson during my childhood.
Solis => Cuban glass ruined his confidence. Gamboa => Campaigned at 135lbs when he's absolutely tiny at that weight. It was only a matter of time before he was going to get knocked out there. He needed to at least go back down to 130. He was at his best at 126lbs. Rigo => Too boring Lara => A bigger farce than Rigo, no skill in his running. For Cubans, Olympic success was always their dream, not pros. They just turn professional to cash out, some completely fall of the radar because they've already reached their dreams before they even turned pro.
Today it could be strange, but five or six years ago I expected Solis to defeat both Klitschkos. Now, I think he was lazy and didn't train properly. Gamboa should go back at 130, but I think game is over for him; he wasted his prime. Rigo is very, very skilfull, but, yes, his style is not crowd pleasing, and he is too old now, and his chin is less than average. Lara is overrated here, in this forum, I can't guess why. I don't like his talking about Golovkin, I feel he is not the genuine sportsman like majority of Cubans.
They're must be more overrepresented as champions and contenders than any other nationality compared to total number of pros from the country. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
