I really don't see him beating any of the top MW's and it's not 100% his fault, he is way too small at 5'7 and his power doesn't look like it would translate against the big boys. He's a very good fighter, but I could not imagine him bullying and backing up a guy like peter quillin who is 5'11 and close to 190lbs on fight night or 6'2 andy lee or martin murray etc etc these guys are big boys.
There seems to be alot of new divisions lately with fights between LMW and MW, and between LWW and WW. I wouldnt pick for Canelo to beat a big MW like Quillin but I think he would do well against many others including A Lee who I dont think to be the most durable
"I have respect for Golovkin, but if we do fight, it's going to be at my weight class. I'm the champion, I don't have to do what he wants." - Canelo. That tells you everything you need to know. He's already claiming he's too small for 160. F that then, don't fight there. He hydrates up himself to a similar weight to GGG anyway, trying to drain him is a straight up b*tch move. Dare to be great Canelo, dare to be great...
its funny to hear someone discuss canelo/ggg and tell someone to "dare to be great"...and have the person be canelo and not the other guy.....that makes me laugh
Height isn't size. Do you think Tommy Hearns was bigger than Mike Tyson??? Canelo is a not a small MW.
Same thing will happen that happened to chavwz Jr when he moved up, his punches had little effect and his punch resistance went to hell. Canelo would not do well at 160. If canelo could keep his weight at 154 he could dominate. At 5ft 8in canelo has no business fighting at 160 at this point in his career.
I doubt he can, and since he can't that means he's a middleweight, heigh doesn't come into the equation, it's called weight classes not height classes... Also I think people are underrating him, he's still got enough skill to beat pretty much any MW bar GGG, it's not like the division is full of cold blooded killers.
