:think This is not a bad idea.

But a 105 division would not be that bad of an idea. We do have guys like Xiong Zhao Zhong.

I'm all for the old school ways. 8 divisions, 1 champ per division.

are there any legitimate reasons why the old weight classes, same day weigh ins went away? 15 round fights are gone because of health concerns (but eff its boxing and i'd prefer that). Would makes things a little easier to compare current day fighters with those from the past (despite changes in nutrition, strength&cond etc).

    Strongly disagree to be honest.

Guys like Fernando Vargas, James Kirkland, Angulo, Lara, ect, ect.... these guys, when in their best shape, would be clearly undersized against the likes of Hopkins, Pavlik, Taylor, ect... if you actually saw the size difference between guys like Vargas and Hopkins, Kirkland and Pavlik.... you would realise that they are the epitome of 154lbers (when in shape) Not every 154lber can move up succesfully the way Martinez did....

So why would I want to get rid of a division that has had its fair share of exciting fighters, and has produced so many great fights, and in a division proven needed by the amount of fighters that fit that catagory that would indeed be too small against the big middles.

Ive got no problem with the amount of divisions there are.... Boxing has bigger issues, like a shameful amount of belts per division and the best fighters not fighting the best fighters around them.

Way too many champions.................and the mandatory should be earned. When did Wilder beat the #1 contender................or anyone ranked? Need a federal boxing commission......................

I'm one that believes in reducing the number of divisions (down to perhaps 8 or 9 - the guy who listed above had it pretty close IMO), same day weigh-ins and ideally only one sanctioning org... though It'd obviously take a fair bit of work.

This is one of the reasons I'm following AIBAs experiments with semi-pro boxing - they seem to offer the most immediate prospect for a unified system with a (fairly ) sensible number of weight classes.

I can't see it happening but IMO the unification of then sport under one set of standardised rules and a single governing body would be about the best thing that could happen in the long term
