I actually liked that fight. I don't like MMA much. But they looked methodical, looking for an opening. Machida was impressive. I'm gonna be watching him in the future. I'm kinda appreciating MMA a little more, even the Hughes Serra fight, I see now how all the hugging on the floor can be exciting, at any moment one of them can pull a move that ends the fight instantly.
Royce Gracie fought bigger men, and was a true Jiu Jitsu expert. What I see today in the MMA/UFC is at times a disgrace considering what Royce had to go through, who he fought, and how much bigger the other guy was.
I'll take a submission victory any day, but the wrestling on the ground for over a minute in a half...get the guys back up again. Heck, get em up after 30 seconds lol...
MMA only worth watching when only the top few fighters are fighting. The rest are ****in college kids
That's the thing with MMA, most fights suck, and a lot of fights suck until the KO happens. Then everyone cheers and it's like "greatest fight EVAH!".. we do that with boxing too, but there's very few "real" stinkers in boxing.. there's matches that aren't great, but usually on a card (even ESPN2 level) you get half the fights that are entertaining. Bad MMA is really bad, and bad championship MMA fights are the worst.. 5 mins of boredom, then times that by 5.
They say ufc is more exciting.... Who says? All I saw there was incompetent boxing with a few useless kicks.
I liked that fight too. Its much easier to get stopped in MMA than boxing so you can expect a lot more caution when 2 KO artists get it on. Machida is a scientific fighting machine and I was glad he eventually got his title shot. After he plows through the rest of the UFC LW division, hopefully he can get in there with Fedor.
ufc sucks!!!! everytime they go to the ground it looks like they are whispering complements to each other " omg your skin feels so soft"
I like boxing more than MMA, but you MMA haters are ****in ridiculous. Machida and Evans are both counter-attackers. It's the same thing in boxing. When you have two counter-punchers fighting one another, it will usually lead to a tentative boring fight. It happens in both sports. And I don't care how much you hated last night's main event. I loved it.
