The Referee should have stopped it by the start of round 11...

the size differance looks crazy. i forgot how big morgo looked and how smallmanny looked here.

Back on topic, yes shoud definetly have been stopped.

But technically, he could still see, he was still throwing punches, he was still coming forward, he still had his gloves up.

My Respect for both fighters went up massively this fight. For Pac, for going toe to toe with Margo in voilent exchanges when he coud have danced away from him all night.
And also for going easy on him at the end.

And also Margo, for preparing to die in that ring. He gets alot of stick, however Cotto and Mosley Eventually went on retreat and spoiling tactics.
    Where Margo fought every 2nd.

Margo should have been in the ring on a 147/154 fight. But just because the fight was 150, people think that the fight is ****? The title on the line is ****, but the fight is nevertheless great.

Yeah. Corner should have stopped it after the 9th, ref should have stopped it in 10th. Pacquiao beat the dog**** out of Margarito.

But I also agree with the previous poster that Margarito should not have been in the ring. No reason for someone not amongst the top 25 of the weight class, inactive due to proven cheating, and recently 1-1 with brutal KO by Mosley and UD versus a tune-ups tune-up to go against the worlds P4P #1/2. Totally undeserving and big mismatch.

The ref should have stopped it. There are fighters that are too eager for their own good. The trainer is just obliging his fighter. The referee otoh decides for himself or with the help of the ringside doctor whether to stop the fight. In this case it's cleat he should have. Other fights have been stopped for a lot less injury than this.

    Its Texas motherf*CKERS!!!

probably why and and justifiably why Void doesn't want to fight there..

I never understood why Oscar gets a pass for quitting but Mosley (who wanted to quit but didn't) and Margarito don't get enough credit for standing toe to toe with the Pacman and going out on their shield.

Because he's antonio. If we go through Oscar's entire career, he was an iron chinned hero. marg got soul raped and KO'd by the man Oscar fought competitively with twice.

For many new fans that is the defining moment of Oscar's career. How on this green earth do you think he got a pass for that? Hes got nothing but criticism.

Garcia is a good trainer, he has a real passion for the sport, a brilliant repertoire with his fighter and comes across as a father/brother figure to them. I personally think he should have stopped the fight.

As for the referee. I'm all for defend yourself at all times, once you can't then its a referee's job to stop the contest. Margarito is a strange case because he barely defended himself throughout the contest. He was getting beaten with the same ferocity in the first three rounds as he was in rounds 7-10. He's just a tough guy, he wasn't going to get stopped by the fighter he was just going to be injured and messed up beyond all belief. Props for sticking it out but I think Garcia should have said no.

Same with Cotto. That fight should have been stopped by his trainer around the 8th by which point he was on his bike trying to see the twelve rounds out.

Margarito took a terrible beating, that fight and briggs vs vitali where the 2 biggest beatdowns in recent years, both fights the corner and especially the ref should have stopped the fight at some point, in this fight it should have been round 10/11 in my opinion.
