Anselmo Moreno have a couple of impressive fights on his name.. He's got a very decent fighting style but his power is questionable.. But he makes it up with techniques.. A good technical fight will always be shown if ever he fights.. There's nobody else there @118, he needs to step-up @122.. :deal Abner Mares had an impressive win over Morel.. He just weighed in @119 1/2 lbs but still, it looked like he had managed to add more power.. He is willing to exchange blows with anyone he has fought.. Whoever he fights, its sure that he will try to win and will not cover up to survive.. He should fight bigger names next.. :bbb Jorge Arce is like a smaller version of Rios or Margarito.. He's got good chin and he does not give up.. If you hit him, he'll hit you back.. If you hit him hard, he'll hit you harder.. He's one hell of a brawler.. He needs to prove that he still have it.. Guilermo Rigondeaux has a very good start for his professional boxing career.. With only 9 fights, he is already a world champion.. He's got one hell of a body blow and he also box well but sometimes he is tentative.. To solidify his name in professional boxing, he needs to beat a respectable name.. Toshiaki Nishioka should be the biggest name in the 122 lbs division.. The last time I heard, he was actually looking to fight Donaire next.. Nonito Donaire's last two fights wasn't that much impressive (because I was expecting another KO win ).. But I'd like to give Donaire a lot of credits for making his opponent fight by opening up (because he was looking to unleash his fight ender left hook :yep).. He needs another impressive win.. :deal I also would like to throw in Jeffrey Mathebula and Tshifhiwa Munyai for the tournament.. The winner can claim that he is the best boxer @122.. :bbb Your thoughts? :bbb :bbb
Its a great division at the moment. But this is modern boxing and I can't see these guys fighting each other any time soon. Maybe someone will get a clash against Arce though. He looks to be the most vulnerable on that list.
Yeah. . . Although I have noticed guys at these smaller divisions are more willing to fight each other. .. sooner, rather than later as well. . Since they don't have the options, and names, publicity, etc. of the higher weight classes, their only chances to get televised, and get paid, is to fight the other little guys with names. . . As long as they are in the same promotional stable, the fights are likely to happen within a year or so. . . That damn cold war still going on between Golden Boy, and Top Rank is really holding boxing back. I think we really will see Mares vs. Moreno by the end of 2012, or early 2013 at latest... But we can pretty much forget about a Mares/Moreno vs. Donaire, Rigo, and Arce. . . Hopefully Arum will give us Donaire vs. Rigo by mid 2013. Nishioka has a japanese promotor who has worked with Arum in the past (Nishioka vs. Rafael Marquez), and I'm pretty sure he'd be open to working with Golden Boy as well: Nishioka vs. Mares/Moreno.
Are you trying to say that someone might use Arce as his stepping stone? I bet that won't be easy and might be too risky.. Arce is like a tank he just keeps on coming forward.. :smoke
Also, UK has got some pretty damn good guys @ 122, who will likely be ready for the international/world championship level after fighting each other hopefully by the end of the year: Scott Quigg, and Carl Frampton. . Then you got perennial BEAST Poonsawat Krating. who always has a chance to beat anybody at the weight. . . mid/late 2012 - 2013 will definitely be a VERY HOT year for 122. . .
Lol yup. . . Even Arum seems hesistant to match Donaire against him. . He's been talking about it forever now. . We were supposed to get that fight this summer, but instead he matched him with Mijares... I really do think Donaire vs. Arce will come October/November. . Either Arce/Nishioka vs. Donaire late fall/early winter. . . Those are most certainly Nonito's next two opponents. I think Mares, and Moreno will fight two more times for the rest of 2012, against other guys. . Then they fight each other around this time, or a little earlier in 2013. Poor Rigo is so FEARED nobody wants a piece of him!!!
Mijares is also a very tough opponent.. He's the former IBF champion if I remember it right.. I wanted to add him on the list but instead I chose to add Arce.. I'll give him a decent chance of beating Arce.. Maybe Rigondeaux can book a fight with Vasquez Jr. or Fernando Montiel.. That would give him a lot of credit if he manages to beat those guys.. I actually wanted to see Mares/Moreno against PeƱalosa or Sonsona.. I know that sounds like its one-sided but I still want to see that fight.. :smoke
He's in a good run of form at the moment but I can see a lot of these top guys licking their chops. He's there to be hit and brings money to the table.
Who's your top pick? I picked Donaire to beat them all.. :smoke But that doesn't mean its going to be easy.. Its going to be hard but I still see Donaire beating all of them.. :rasta
Mijares was a super flyweight champ, his tiny for a superbantam and should not be in the ring with nonito. Arce has been fighting for vacant titles and had his ass handed to him by darchinyan. Vic is the only man willing to fight all commers even with his limited skills. I would have also added motiel to that list :good
I also wanted to add Montiel but Donaire is done with him.. :rasta But he'll be a good test for the rest that are mentioned.. :think He'll probably beat the brawlers on that list.. :hey
I'd like to hear the thoughts of those who picked Rigondeaux.. That's interesting.. :smoke But it can't be helped if you just wanted him to win, we can't blame fans for believing in their favorite boxer.. :good
