Too many close rounds seems like you could flip a coin to decide who gets the round and ends up in controversial decisions. Put a judge on each side of the ring. If the round is split 2-2 then it's scored even. If 3 judges score it for one fighter and another judge scores it for the other, tally up the points like 3-1... if all 4 judges score it for one fighter, it's 4-0. Adds more depth to the scoring no?
You can appoint as many judges as possible to a fight, but it won't make a difference if they are all on the payroll of the home fighter. We need quality, independent judges but it's a corrupt sport at the end of the day.
No just go back to The London Prize Ring Rules, a fighter not up and ready at the scratch at start of each round loses the bout.
1. I'd propose 15 judges for every title fight. 3 on each side of the ring, and then another 3 watching on closed circuit tv. At the very least, it makes it more expensive to buy off a majority of the judges. 2. Title fights also should have NO hometown judges, and NO judges from the same hometown/area/region as either fighter. (Ideally this should apply for every fight, but the logistics of doing so would probably be difficult and expensive, especially at the lower levels of the sport.) 3. Any state or country holding a bout should also have an "internal affairs" division within its sports commissioner's office for investigating controversial decisions, and it should have the power to ban judges and fine the sanctioning bodies for illegitimate judging. (i'm guessing something like this already exists to an extent.) 4. Canelo should no longer be automatically awarded the first 4 rounds of every fight.
Actually they should have a tiebreaker round if the fight is a draw..........I personally think ESPN was on to something there......
Why stop at 15 judges? Let's up the ante and encircle the ring with an army of judges. They could vote like a legislative body at the end of each fight to see who wins!!
Think maths. 4 equals more draws. Maybe another system. Can’t think of one but an even number of judges just means more draws.
That won't solve anything corruption and incompetence will still exist. I say fight until one of the fighters is unable to continue. Give me some more Violence.
