Fighters weighed in today for the event UFC 117 tomorrow evening and all fighters successfully made weight, par for one.

Thiago Alves has missed weight again. He weighed in at 171.5 and was given 1 hour to lose the extra .5 pounds. He was unable to do so and is being fined 20% of his purse.

Many things to consider here but this isn't exactly the first time this has happened with Thiago...thoughts?

Well he was out for a while so im not surprise he didn't make weight. At least he only came in 1 pound over rather than 6 lbs over like anthony rumble johnson.

I also think thiago is too big for the welterweight. He should just moved up to middleweight where he won't have to worry about cutting too much weight.

Well, judging by how much UFC fighters were paid in the past, Alves can probably live with that $1000 less I think ;)

Seriously common thats pretty weak to say that they atleast get $1000 plus a hooker.

He needs to be fighting at middleweight. In fact I thought that's what he said he was going to do anyways after the GSP fight. :huh

.5 doesnt bother me much but this is supposed to be a number 1 contenders fight well how could Alves possibly make the offical 170 limit at this point ?

He really needs to get his **** together. Busted for diuretics, multiple failed weigh ins, just not very good for a guy with championship aspirations.

Either Alves moves up or his opponents enjoy taking his money and facing a guy killing himself to make weight. Given the sort of fight Fitch fights then this is not good news for Alves.

Considering he had time to make that extra .5 of a pound and couldn't make it means he must have been totally drained. I wouldn't mind seeing him at mw anyhow an extra 15 lbs not to cut would be a nice treat for him.

Alves loves being able to just ragdoll everybody because he's a gigantic welter. He should really move up to middle.

Funnily enough, in the countdown he was saying he lost the bout cos he was young and inexperienced at cutting weight.

He's really just too short/stubby limbed for 185 though.

****in lose a little of that muscle, not much, but take one day a week of lifting; I realize your strength is a huge asset, but you can't keep missing weight.

Also, stay out of the clubs so much; at least till you start making weight, then you can go back to getting more ass than a toilet seat.

 A few days ago, I read quotes from him were he said the weight cut (so far) had been easy.
