Whats guys thoughts on this guy? Im not entirely convinced at all. He appears to have heavy hands but iv not seen anything in him special or his comp that makes me think he could be a big name at 205.Does his record flatter to decieve?

Yeah ,he still needs to be tested. He can bang but his stand up can be a bit wild and sloppy. Mendes was getting the better of the stand up before he took it to the ground. He has won a few in a row now (in the UFC) so I'm sure he will fight someone good in his next fight.

Mendes put him down twice in like 30 secounds so im not too high right now. Those shots where grazing or half blocked imagine what Wanderlei,Henderson,Rampage,Shogun,Liddell would do to him if they landed.

My thoughts exactly. Mendes high kick was awesome but theres just nothing that stands out to me about Thiago that makes me think this guy could be a major player..

Just needs to be tested. He's proved he's worthy of a shot at the top guys by disposing of two other fighters who were making noise and moving up the ranks. Dunno, how he'd get on. Depends on styles. I don't fancy him against someone with good kicks now, but how many of the top 205 UFC guys have especially good kicks?

Machida,Wanderlei,Liddell when he uses them,Shogun all have nice kicks. Im not sure if Rashad should be mentioned though :huh

I tend to think he has more effective than brutal kicks. But I do think Machida definitely beats him. But then I've made it pretty clear that I think Machida beats everyone bar Shogun if Shogun got his moxy back*

*By moxy I mean steroids. ;)

The kick was good but mostly blocked so him going down like that then agian shortly after makes me question the chin and trust me if you fight bangers at 205 like Wandy,Jardine,Liddell,Hendo or Rampage they will check your chin. His striking attack on the ground seems ok but its hard for the imagine him getting any of the top 205ers to the ground and doing much to them. Mendes and Alexander are solid but nothing special. Thiagos unbeaten though so hes due for a big fight maybe he could fight Sokodjue another big banger or someone like that.

They're all okay, Shogun's are good. I don't think they'd catch him like the one at the weekend did, though.

I do feel the guy has what it takes to get himself in the mix. Jardine or Evans would be a good test, to see if he can beat a fringe contender.

I think Rampage has the style to beat Machida. Well atleast get inside on Machida im now wondering who gets the guy down. Ortiz is extremly strong and Machida made him his *****.

Rampage could beat him of course, Rampage is elite. 55/45 in favour of Machida.

Shogun is the guy I think could beat him, the only thing I've noticed with him is he's slightly vulnerable to getting in clinches, and Shogun's clinch can be a nasty, nasty thing if you don't get out in time.

Well honestly I cant comment on Shogun much. He looked like a complete piece of **** vs Griffin now with the injuries hes had I dont know where is at during this point in his career. Ill judge him based on his comeback fight whenever it is.

It seems he's taking the proper time to heal, which is promising. Hopefully he's getting his training regime sorted out too. The way he gassed in the Griffin fight was sad to see.

I said at the time that a lot of the PRIDE guys should have taken the Anderson Silva route and got used to the cage in cage rage, seemed to work for Anderson. But since then Nog has kind of proved you can do it without that, scary moment Vs Heath notwithstanding.
