Something they have done or said that made you a fan?

Kovalev - Was a huge fan. I was upset after Ward 1, and even Ward 2 I was finding ways to make excuses about low blows and such to cope with the loss... However, after he lost to Canelo, he said something along the lines of "You are ignoramuses since you thought I could win" and the worse one, if you bet on me and lost money it was your greed blah blah or some horse ****. i legit could not believe he just said that. I understand taking the fight for the money, i'd do the same. I would not, however insult fans or basically admit I am a loser. Now it makes me think he didn't try his hardest for Ward 2 because he was too busy feeling sorry for himself and making excuses

Margarito - Wasn't a fan. But the Pacquiao ass whoopin, I kept thinking to myself during the fight brooo this dude's a warrior. His heart is probably top 0.1% on earth. Became a fan.

Mayweather - Not one thing he has done, but just.. everything. Huge fan when I was young and dumb and didn't know any better. Despise the dude, ruined boxing

David Price made me a fan. He's a total warrior despite his papier mache chin. I wasnt a fan at first, I thought he was a big stiff idiot but he never fails to give his all and entertain

vodka Kovalev was specific specimen.:ibutt.
I even was damn surprised that after fight vs Yarde he was polite and even appreciated his opponent's effort and gave nice and polite talk.
    He usually was :ibutt:ibutt:ibutt:eek:.

    A few examples...

Shamelessly self-hyping way beyond what their abilities and records evidence - a fighter who spends most of their time fighting bums and low level gatekeepers should never be hyping themselves up as future HOF or GOAT... It's annoying enough when fighters with decent resumes do, but it's painfully cringey when cowards do.

Encouraging others to fight on with serious injuries, especially when there's significant risk of further damage by doing so - that needs to stop and the idea that "quitting" with broken facial bones is something to be shamed for is just awful.

Wanting to kill opponents in the ring... Anyone that says this with a straight face should be banned for life - at the very least the alphabet organisations should be stripping titles and/or rankings, mandatory statuses etc. It's disgraceful and needs to stop.

I could name names, but why bother? It doesn't matter who does these things, I don't approve of them.

Toney - getting done for doping. I was a huge fan but this really was a huge disappointment. Any fighter caught doping I simply lose a lot of respect for, especially repeat offenders.

Canelo - Was really impressed with Canelo early on. I saw early on the fighter he'd become. You could see in training he was working on his defensive skills and he looked like another Toney to me, though at that time what he was doing in training wasn't actually translating into the ring, but it was only a matter of time before he could utilise those slick skills in training in an actual fight. But the way he's used his marquee fighter status to leverage advantage over opponents and then the failed doping test, that simply turned me off him.

Calzaghe - years of facing stiffs turned me off Calzaghe. I was a fan, remember watching him come up and being impressed. He then beat one of my boxing heroes Eubank in dominant fashion but then came a reign as WBO champion that simply frustrated me. Got sick of the over matched opponents and always being a step behind Ottke facing Brewer and Mitchell only after Ottke had already beaten them and taken their titles. Was nice to see him eventually step up and fulfill his potential but too little too late.

Wilder - There was a time where I saw potential in Wilder he had just pole axed Liakhovich in a breakout performance where he had finally stepped up. I saw potential but just like Calzaghe he took an easy path and fought Firtha and Scott who'd just lost to Chisora and it was clear we didn't have a warrior here but another carefully protected cherry picker.

The day before yesterday, I watched a 1 hour interview to chris eubank senior. I became a fan. Actually I didnt like him very much before I watched this interview.

Canelo, I was a HUGE fan before the cow meat incident. Now, I just like to watch him fighting because I see top level boxing. But... mmm. hard to be a fan any more.

Mayweather, I've always been a mayweather fan. Boxing skills close to perfection.

Fernando el feroz vargas. The one and only. First boxer I was really a fan of. I was learning the sport, I was starting to leave european boxing scene and entering in the international/world boxing scene. Fernando vargas fascinated me. Imagine, I was used to watch all that german BS like ottke, and suddenly I discovered the likes of vargas.... I was completely fascinated. Vargas, casamayor, roy jones.... for me it was a revelation, an oasis, fresh air after all that german ****. (take no offense, I love germany, Ich liebe Deutchland, aber..... german boxing in the 90s was pure ****)

Even if my nick is the same as rigo's I'm a fan of rigo, but no specially, I just had watched him fighting before logging in.

Hagler. First classic I was a fan of. First time I watched someone fighting with both hands equally, I was astonished. So impressed I started to train as a southpaw, my trainer wanted to kill me.

Joe Louis. His straight right hand... I never get tired of watching him fighting, one of my favourite figters ever. 100% sure the best HW ever, and if not #1 ever, then #2 in all weights. I totally love his skills.

Durán... I learned to appreciate his boxing when I grew older. His boxing is extremely complex, the more you know about boxing, the more durán shines among the other fighters.

    .....

Ohhh! and foreman. Dude! gotta love him! he's so likable!! in and outside the right. The raging cow comment while watching women boxing is among the top atg comments in this sport. I cant help it, I just love george.

And joe frazier. Fighting half his career with only one eye. This dude deserves huge respect. Tough mofo. Really tough, tougher than a nail in a coffin.

I hate Jake Paul who is taking the least amount of risk possible and selling it for the highest price.
And also Ike Ibeabuchi, dude is a menace to society.

Controversial but I quite like Shannon Courtenay. Absolutely cannot stand the bs mental health stuff and double standards on insta and continual reshaping of her 1 highlight reel ko against a bum ...

However, actually have found her pretty entertaining to watch in the ring. Personally thought she beat ball and the bridges scrap was not bad either

Hate / Love and Fan all probably a bit strong terms but here's a few for me...

Canelo - really liked him up until he vacated the 160 WBC belt he took from Cotto to avoid GGG, which was a shameless duck - even if it was likely Oscar pulling the strings. Then the stink of of the Tainted Meat of Clenbuterol soured me further. I really like is dedication to the sport and training and fighting regularly, but that is offeset by his Mayweather-esq "I'm the A-side so I will stack the decks in my favour" antics. Also some of those cards... even tho Kova was shot, he still jabbed the hell out of Canelo all night till the stoppage; how the hell all 3 cards had Canelo up I will never know...

Usyk, did not really know much about him up until the Cruiser WBSS but became a fan following his awesome run. Still hoping he gets the fight with AJ, although that's looking dicey...

Carl Froch - never really liked him much due to his constant calling out of Zags what I saw as sour grapes, I found it really amusing how Groves got into his head a dropped him in their first fight. But after Froch retired and I saw a few more interviews - especially him and Groves did a thing on the run up to AJ / Ruiz II, I warmed to him a lot more, and realized he has an extremely dry sense of humour, and many times I think he has tongue firmly planted in cheek, which others (and I previously) construe as narcissism.

Andre Ward - the SOG moniker led me to instantly be bias against him, and his bill-goat headbutting of Kessler in the Super 6 ruined that fight for me (even though Ward was bossing it and would have won cleanly I think). He also seemed to come across very smug in interviews. Since he has retired, and I rewatched some of his fights more objectively I appreciate his ring IQ and strengths a lot more, and think he is a pretty decent pundit / co-commentator (relatively speakking) - he at least knows his boxing.

Regis Prograis - whilst I'd seen some of his fights before TTT, he was really just a fighter that stood in Taylor's way to me (generally the only fighters I proclaim to be "fans" of - meaning I want them to win - are ones from my home country, so Ricky Burns and Josh Taylor in recent years, though Kash Faoorq and Lee McGregor are showing some promise!). Anyways, Prograis was a total class act following his narrow defeat against Josh, he pushed him all the way in what was my FOTY, and showed nothing but great dignity in the defeat. His performance and attitude made me a fan, and I'll be rooting for him in any future fight - unless it's against Taylor of course ;)

David Haye - toe-gate, then pulling out of Fury fight twice, then the Bellew farces. Such a naturally gifted fighter, he could have been REALLY great, but I think he was more interested in the money and Hollywood (rumours of failed acting attempt IIRC?). He's still a likable chap, so I don't hate him, just hugely dissapointed with what I see as untapped potential.

Love Mayweather inside the ring, which began with his beatdown of Diego Corrales, but borderline hate him outside of it because of his obsession with money and showing off. He deserves every dime he has, but the dude has no class. I saw a video of him showing off a 3 million dollar watch. What he didn't realize is that the watch wasn't worth 3 mil, he just put 3 million dollars worth of bullcrap on it.

Deontay Wilder, his excuses were one thing his conspiracies accusing his trainer tysons trainers and tyson of cheating with made-up nonsense makes him the most hated for me.

I hate Prince Naseem Hamed. His arrogance was too much. I remember when he came on conan o'brien and he used up all of his time on his entrance, dancing down the stairs. Even conan was laughing at him as he said there was no time left for an interview.

i can't find the conan interview, but the leno interview has some similar stupidity: Boxing Legend Prince Naseem Hamed On Jay Leno Show 1998 - YouTube
