I thought that was a great event TBH. You have to put it into its proper context- this was the first event NBC televised in almost 30 years. The production value looks great. All they need is some time to improve on a few things in subsequent events. While I'd like there to be more seasoned announcers at the forefront, i think SRL and Albert will be ok as they develop more chemistry together. It wasn't the worst broadcast I've heard (like some in here are making it out to be,) so hopefully it was just debut jitters and the announcers not being too familiar with one another. I'm sure the April card will be much better.
I think it was one of the best boxing productions I've seen in a while. They need to work on the ring entrance. UFC does them very well. Germany does them very well. For Thurman who isn't a majour champ I can seen not having a huge ring entrance. But when Deonte Wilder the heaveyweight Champ of the world walks into the ring, the place better F$%#ing come down.
Lay off that dust, G. Unlike you, I don't live out racial battles vicariously through boxing. I'm not some Kneegrow pullman porter from the 30's sitting around a transistor radio in the back of a train cheering for Joe Louis. My life is straight. Beautiful family, bills paid, college fund growing, house on point and appreciating, riding clean, tropical vacations every year, and still got money in the bank and pocket. Don't project your loser azz existence on me. Unlike you, my life's worth isn't derived around a daily count of how many Black folk hold belts or win boxing matches. If you want to be on the side with the types who declare that using black ropes is some sort of 'subliminal message', then by all means, do so. Stand strong with that decision. But don't try and act like pointing out how absolutely batisht insane that sounds is some racial play, all the while ignoring the initial racial implications from the initial statement. Now, run along and kill yourself. Immediately.
ring entrances i didn't like. announcers were okay. can't stand the current hbo/showtime crew. but the production made it feel like a tv/reality show, as opposed to prize fighting. We as fans are used to boxing being presented one way, so it might take a little getting used to when we see something a little different. ala seeing WCW doing Monday Nitro, after years of watching only WWF wrestling on Monday nights
Yeah because a man with his life together and a "beautiful family" is going to spend his time wishing death on a poster he barely knows on the internet forum. No class at all man.
I'm still trying to figure out what the OP meant by that. Seriously, WTF? :huh I don't understand how any serious boxing fan can fault Al Haymon for putting boxing on prime time network television.
Tickets were probably more than that! I bet close up seats were at least $300. The cheapest tickets were maybe $50. I bet avg is closer to $120. Still they definitely didn't make money on this.
Now that explains why you hate the man. I knew you detest for Haymond was racially motivated all alone. This right here just confirmed it.
+1 this, it was awesome to see boxing on prime time again. Thankfully someone appreciates it for what it is.
You titled the thread "Things that will improve PBC" but all you did was **** on it. Come one, we should all be happy that boxing is back on network TV
Am I the only one that liked the black ropes? Since the majority of fighters are light skinned they would stand out well from the ropes making you feel like you are not missing anything, and for the darker or black fighters it would blend better so as not to be a distraction. No fighters are red, blue, or solid white and so those colors really stand out against the fighters distracting the brain, unlike black which is a muted color.
Yes, I said what things you could take away from it. If you took those things out it would improve it. I don't know how I could be any more clear? Are you that dense?
