    1. Paulie Malignaggi holds a lot when things don't go his way. The ref seemed to blame hatton but it is so blatantly obvious it's Paulie 90% of the time that I wondered if Joe Cortez and grown a few inches and changed ethnicity. When Paulie watches the fight I hope he feels a little embarassed given his pre-fight banter on wrestling.

    2. Hatton's head movement and jab improved 20%. Those people who say it was a massive improvement are wrong. He still charged in and was wreckles at times and was caught with a number of needless jabs. HOWEVER, it's fair to say that he has the capability to learn and in the next couple of fights he could become a much more rounded boxer if he continues to develop steadily.

    3. To be competitive with De La Hoya he needs to improve his boxing by at least another 50% AND the fight has to be at 140. Hatton still doesn't have the syle to force fights in the same fashion against bigger guys.

    4. Hatton's chances of fighting Mayweather have probably improved substantially as there is now a legit excuse if he wins a couple more fights that he is reborn, ref was **** etc etc. Credibility raised.

    5. McGirt clearly does not like to see his fighters suffer. He tends to pull guys out of there, at least in the big fights I've seen so if you don't want the towell, don't work with Buddy.

    6. Larry Merchant is a total mongo.

    1 - Yup
2 - To me his movement was exactly like pre zoo and zoo fight... maybe a bit more patient, but all things considered, was vintage hatton to me... not the post zoo hugger.
    3 -
    4 -
5 - Agree... i cant blame him. But it is sad when the fighters are desperate to finish the fight.

There is absolutely no way that DLH will get his body down to 140; so on that basis the fight won't happen.

If Hatton were to move up he gets eaten alive by the top dogs at WW. It is nice to see Hatton put a bit style into his work, but we all know he will never be a pure boxer; he relies on his strength to overpower opponents at 140; at 147 he doesn't have that and will pay the price. Could you see Hatton doing to Margarito what Cotto done for the first few rounds; using good lateral movement, selling fakes, and potshotting with success? I couln't; Margo would batter the **** out of him from start to finish and the fight would be stopped before the mid-way point. Hatton should just stay were he is at 140.

Well Oscar did say recently he felt he could make 140 and for me the only reason he said that was because he wanted to entice Hatton but still I agree with you overall.

Hatton-DLH would probably have to fight at a catchweight. I think Oscar could make 140 but it would take a few years off of his life in the process.

It appears that DLH has been having a few problems getting off weight for the fight with Pac, and he hasn't fought at LWW for over 10 years (1997 against Miguel Angel Gonzalez). I just couldn't see him making it down that far now; I think Hatton would have to move right up to the WW limit, and up there he gets butchered.

Jim Watt is an even bigger fool. Apparently Hatton is a natural Light-Middle to him.

Yep. He said something like "The size is too much for Malignaggi. He's a proper light-welter while Ricky is more of a light-middleweight. He can bully the smaller PM around" He threw in another gem or too like, "this is the best Ricky Hatton i've seen since before the Mayweather fight" Really Jim, who would of thought:nut

Jim Watt was referring to Hatton's weight coming into the fight on the night itself I believe, which is probably quite correct. Although I'm not sure what his weight was coming into the ring last night.

Watt was a decent world level Lightweight and I value his opinion, and qualification to comment on fights and fighters, he often gets it spot on.

What I learned is that Malignaggi is a slickster but not very defensive. He moves well but he's not a defensive maestro. I think people overrate his defensive capabilities. He dipped right into Ricky Hatton's hook about 40 times.

I honestly didny care for the way Hatton looked,he was moving forward but didnt throw as much as he used to with Graham......He did show some head movement but not enough against someone who can bang

    I completely agree with this.
I thought Ricky was coming a lot straight in, with his hands low. He also seemed to be using his hands a lot for defence, and I think his punches looked more handsy than usual. Strange. Don't think Floyd sr. is a good match for him.
