I did criticize Floyd for not handling a blown up Super Featherweight with more conviction than he did. :good Even so, Marquez is twice as talented as anyone either the Klitschko brothers have fought (Lennox aside)...and Floyd wasn't 5-6 inches taller than Marquez or Shane. And like I've said before, all I'm saying is...I don't personally understand why anyone would want to keep tuning in to these horrible, horrible fights...if you're a fan, brilliant, but I'm not.
Nationalism in boxing debates. Its just embarassing. People who claim Hamed was a hype job who never fought anyone. People who think Omar Sheika and Rick Thornberry are notable names on Calzaghe's resume. Why so many people felt Dirrel was acting. Why fighters from earlier eras get held in higher esteem to comprable fighters from the contemporary era. People who spend more time hating certain boxers, than they do liking the ones they are actually a fan of. Why hardcore Pavlik fans are so utterly loyal and devoted. How a fighter can go from ATG to overrated bum in the space of a fight. *cough* Hatton v Pacquaio *cough*
I don't get why in places where they have these grand entrances with a dog and pony show production, how they expect us to think an opposing fighter could get a fair shake. They don't even make a pretense at being impartial or objective. I understand the business aspect of it, but come on. Why would any serious opponent want to fight in his opponents backyard in that case?
How can people be a fan of one boxer more than a fan of the sport in whole? I'm talking about the nuthuggers who ONLY post on their fighter or a rival of their fighter. Its scary as I've seen people with thousands of posts who only ever appear on Floyd/Manny threads. HOW THE **** DO YOU MANAGE TO MAKE THAT MANY POSTS ON JUST TWO GUYS???
Why boxers are using twitter. I think it's the lamest ****ing bull**** ever. The truth is, I DO get it. New forum for promotion, keeping up with latest trends in technology, blah blah. Whatever. Lame!
1. As noted above, people overreact defensively as a result of people overreacting offensively. That said, I don't necessarily care what he says. I just love to watch him fight. He's the best in the sport. 2. They're the best Heavyweights and would have been competitive in any era. 3. Then they're not fans of boxing as a whole. Good riddance. 4. How can Manny be proven as a cheater if he won't agree to the sort of testing that could catch a cheater? This isn't to say he is necessarily cheating, but if he's not being tested appropriately (despite meeting all requirements the commissions place on him with their outdated methods) it's just not going to happen that he is caught.
For all the nationlism of Americans, they just don't seem to get behind their fighters. I can appreciate that its a big country, but it seems like US fight fans often don't even get behind fighters from their own state
