I don't think that's correct. People are getting old rules confused with new rules. I think this needs to be settled. So heres what I could find.

Rules and Regulations as of 2009:

a) 70% for the Champion and 30% for the Challenger

b)55% to the Champion and 45% to the interim challenger

Fast Forward to 2014:

a) 70% for the Champion and 30% for the Challenger

The only way to have a 55/45% split is for the board of Governors to authorize a change by majority vote.

Fast forward to the most updated set of rules from Nov. 2015:

b) First 10% of the purse be set aside for the winner of the bout

b)70% of the remaining 90% shall be for the champion while 30% of the remaining 90% be for the challenger

Once again the only way for a 55/45 split is for the WBC board of governors to intervene with a majority vote.

Correct me if I'm wrong, which I may be, but everyone claiming 55/45 are getting their information from a 7 year old Rulebook that is multiple revisions out of date.

10% to the winner, then 70/30 I think is a pretty good mandatory split. And it appears that Canelo/O$scar didn't want it.

like a hospice for children with cancer. THAT would make him not just a superstar boxer, but an A-List celebrity that is loved in the US of A and the whole world. headlines in every country.

the publicity would be worth more than any purse.

and THAT would put the heat on canelo big time.

GG is not fighting below the 160 limit, and I don't blame him. The major hold up on this fight is weight and if Canelo doesn't fight GG next...then I'm going to **** all over him. :good

As to this thread, Golovkin was made an offer by GBP. Surely it would have been his biggest payday.
Fight hasn't been signed yet.

At this point if Golovkin were offered 20%, that's something he has to take considering there are no big money fights other than Canelo for him.

It's a pity that the thread idea is even brought up. I used to like Canelo and thought he had a lot on the ball, but this chicken routine of his is just despicable. GGG is the most avoided fighter of my lifetime...along with Sonny Liston maybe. Saul Alvarez is just plain scared of GGG....like Cotto, Canelo is a cheese champion to be kind. All that "Mexicans don't f--k around" **** s just pitiful BS.
