i am fighting next month at the beginning and i currently weigh 178 pounds. However, 178 to 200 is heavyweight. **** that.

i was looking to get down to 156 to 165, think my chances are decent?:think

13+ pounds over two weeks? :huh

A pound of fat is about 4000 calories, that will be your daily deficit if you want to lose it in fat weight. Sounds impossible and unhealthy to me. Dehydrating is another matter, I wouldn't risk it.

22 days from today until the tournament starts. so a little more than 2 weeks, but ****..it sucks. the division under heavyweight 165-178 seems realistic but theres no one in that division. Damn making weight, its dumb. :-(

If it's a novice tournament I wouldn't worry about it too much. Most guys aren't in good enough shape their first few bouts for weights to matter all that much.

Hmmm. Well, what's your weight today? Maybe try for a week and if it looks like you're really going to have to crash the following week, then don't do it.

Im 6' 1/2" with a % of 6.1. I fight amateur at 155. You would have better chances of winning your first fight if you made it a lower weight but like Amy said, most guys arnt in great shape for their first few fights yet making weight.

Just fight at 178 dude. You're right at the upper end of that weight class, close to the limit, so you shouldn't be too much smaller than anyone cutting down.

if your really fast you could even try your luck at heavyweight. that may be too much weight to cut. especially for a tournament. that or fight fewer people at light heavyweight.
