Think of an active fighter who never took an easy fight even on tune-ups...

The Pacman. After the first Barrera fight, his tune-ups include Pirang, Velasquez, Larios, Solis, and Diaz.

I'm not to sure what recent fighters didn't have "gimmes" between their big fights.

Starting in 2003 with Casamayor, Corrales was facing top guys non-stop, with no soft touches.

Trinidad had a period where he was facing top opponent after top opponent, save for his mandatory in Thiam.

    Jermaine Taylor.

    Before the Hopkins fight...Joppy.

Then tuneups with Ouma and Spinks.

    Then Wright....then Pavlik.

Say what you want about the guy...but one thing you cant take from him is his level of competition.

Yeah but c'mon....Ouma, Spinks and Wright were all junior middleweights....bull**** DiBella matchmaking....got the feeling he'll do the same with Berto during his "Title reign"...probably have him fight Golden Johnson, David Diaz, and I hear Gatti wants to comeback before he fights another top tier welterweight like Cotto, Williams, Clottey or Margarito. Taylor is a bad example IMO.:good

I would have to say Israel Vasquez!

He went from Oscar Larios to Jhonny Gonzales and then 3 back to back wars with Marquez! No tune-ups for the trilogy.

    Antonio Margarito: started with...
Daniel Santos, Sebastian Lujan, Kermit Cintron, Josha Clottey, Paul Williams, Cintron again, then Miguel Cotto.

Technically Evander Holyfield is still active so take a look at this stretch of fights...

Holmes (coming off of Mercer win)
    Bowe
    Stewart
    Bowe
    Moorer
    Mercer
    Bowe
    Czyz (ok so 1 tuneup)
    Tyson
    Tyson
    Moorer
    Bean
    Lewis
    Lewis
    Ruiz 3X
    Rahman
    Byrd
    Toney

That's a long time fighting top caliber fighters. Bean and Stewart are exceptions but Evander could have picked a lesser fighter than Stewart and Bean was a mandatory.

Are you kidding? Look at that list! That's a 10-year stretch of fighting nothing but top opposition with the exception of Bean and Czyz. There's 5 or 6 HOFers in that list and you bring up Larry Donald. That was for Don King's heavyweight card at MSG in '04. Holyfield needed to fight someone. Donald wasn't exactly a nobody. He got shafted against the current WBA champ in case you weren't aware noob.
